Obama “Infuriated” About Criticism Of His Wife, Says To Debate Him Not His Wife

From an interview Senator Messiah granted to Glamour magazine.

GLAMOUR: An AP poll shows that while the positive ratings on Michelle are higher than those of Cindy McCain, her negative ratings are higher as well. I’m curious about how as a husband that makes you feel. Does it mystify you? And what do you want to say to those Americans who don’t know the woman that you know?

SENATOR OBAMA: It’s infuriating, but it’s not surprising, because let’s face it: What happened was that the conservative press—Fox News and the National Review and columnists of every ilk—went fairly deliberately at her in a pretty systematic way...and treated her as the candidate in a way that you just rarely see the Democrats try to do against Republicans. And I’ve said this before: I would never have my campaign engage in a concerted effort to make Cindy McCain an issue, and I would not expect the Democratic National Committee or people who were allied with me to do it. Because essentially, spouses are civilians. They didn’t sign up for this. They’re supporting their spouse. So it took a toll. If you start being subjected to rants by Sean Hannity and the like, day in day out, that’ll drive up your negatives.

Everybody who knows Michelle knows how extraordinary she is. She’s ironically the most quintessentially American woman I know. She grew up in a “Leave it to Beaver” family. She is the best mother I know. And our kids are a testimony to that, because she’s really had to raise them, oftentimes without me being there. She’s the most honest person I know, she’s smart, she’s funny, so yeah, it infuriates me. And I think that it is an example of the erosion of civility in our political culture that she’s been subjected to these attacks, and my attitude is that the people who have attacked her in the ways that they have...if they’ve got a difference with me on policy, they should debate me. Not her.

Seems to me that if Obama doesn’t want his wife “debated” he shouldn’t put her in the public spotlight as an official representative of his campaign.  Michelle Obama has been going on television shows and giving speeches at events for months now, and in that capacity she is very much representing her husband’s campaign.  She’s not getting this attention so that she can give her opinions about the baseball standings or the latest video game releases.  She’s making these appearances to talk about her husband’s campaign.

If Obama doesn’t want the public or the media or even his political opponents to respond to things his wife says about his campaign I suggest he move to a country where free speech isn’t a guaranteed individual right.

What does that tell you about the type of women Barack knows?

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

Obama is establishing the rules for running against him and McCain will not, IMO, violate them. The rules are simple, to say anything against him at all is racist and to say anything against his wife is sexist. The MSM are also adhering pretty much to those rules.

Neiman:  These days, Obama is doing a great job shooting himself in the foot every time he opens his mouth. McCain is just biding him time while Obama self-destructs.

Aside from the fact that apparently Barack Obama doesn’t get out much, it also tells us that the Angela Davis with a law degree and a half mil per year salary type appeals to him.

Finally, it tells us that the young Mr. Obama really does like these sort of non-serious, powder puff interviews where empty platitudes are gladly exchanged for mindless fawning.

Pparets,

It isn’t shooting himself in the foot that’s the killer… Its the fact that his foot is in his mouth when he does it!

And yet it happens every day here at this website.

Who knew that we were a repository of rare, yet daily, occurrences? How amazing!

Your esp abilities are mind bongling.
Now use them and tell us whether the old Mr McCain will win the election and who will control congress.

I hope you and Bat One are right, but IMO, nothing is sticking to him, he is still riding that Black Messiah Horse pretty high, wide and handsome; and while we conservatives believe he is saying and doing things that are self-destructive, I don’t believe McCain has what it takes to exploit these faults and I think it will take something far greater than anything we have seen before to keep Osamabama out of the White House.

In my lifetime I have seen this play out twice before with JFK and Billy Jeff, although in neither case to the degree of worship as it is with Osamabama. JFK reached most of his deity status after his death and Billy Jeff was more movie star than Messiah; but Osamabama is the Black-Minority Messiah in real terms, his is an image than transcends other mere mortals among the Left, many independents and much of the world.

Lastly, no matter what, I don’t believe McCain has the killer instinct to win; and side by side on television, like JFK and Nixon, Obama will win on his well scripted and rehearsed oratory in the debates absent any substance, a movie star image and a Messiah mystique. McCain will have little passion and suffer because he looks like a tired old man.

Please tell me I am wrong and have missed something! I want to believe Obama will not win!

ellinas,

I don’t believe I’m familiar with the phrase “mind bongling.” Does it have anything to do with smoking illicitly-grown substances?  Or does it perhaps relate to drumming sense into the minds of liberals?

My thoughts as well.
THat’s the quandry. Is there a choice?
While I lean Right, I’m neither Republican nor Democrat.
Maybe McCain will bring Leiberman as a VP & take the middle ground

Bat One. That should read boggling.
Thank you for the correction.

Or what?
Grow up Obama and live in the real world.
Just what does this man expect will happen if he’s elected?
Take a good look at the past first families… Does he expect all fun and games for his family? LOL, if he thinks it’s bad now… just wait.

Neiman:

I want to believe Obama will not win.

Neiman, in every on-line poll where the general public is allowed to actually vote - like AOL polling - John McCain wins by HUGE margins.  A few months ago with over 250,000 votes cast, McCain won by 68%

Last week, in a similar poll, McCain was again the winner by a land-slide.

Pray, my friend, and do not give up hope.

pparets: Of course, online polls are not very reliable for a host of reasons. Next, it is only the electoral college that will count. Lastly, you’ll never go broke betting on the gullibility of the American people.

Like I said, I hope you are right, but right now my money is betting it will be Obama by a landslide!

Neiman: AOL polls track your ISP and do not allow you to vote twice. 250,000 is a national sample so broad as to make all other polling instruments pale by comparison. Their polls also track by state and you can find the results of each state.  Check out AOL pollings.

i agree with you 100% rob, when you said:

‘...Seems to me that if Obama doesn’t want his wife “debated” he shouldn’t put her in the public spotlight as an official representative of his campaign.’

so let’s break out the archives and look at cindy mccain’s ‘prescription’ history.

crshedd:  ... and while we’re at it, let’s examine Pat Kennedy’s drinking, Ted Kennedy’s driving, Michele Obama’s affiliations, Theresa Hienz’ personal ‘habits’, John Kerry’s real Vietnam record and a host of other democrat sins.

You are suggesting a ride down a very slippery slope.

pp, I’m pretty sure those slopes have already been slipped.

Are you suggesting the gop slime machine will stay above board this election?
