Obama: I Will Cut Taxes For 95% Of Working Americans

I had a lot of family over tonight, so I only half listened to Obama’s big speech, but watching the liberal talking heads on television gush about it I did hear one excerpt from Obama’s speech that struck me as odd. Here’s a quote:

“Change means a tax code that doesn’t reward the lobbyists who wrote it, but the American workers and small businesses who deserve it,” he was to say.
“Unlike John McCain [his Republican opponent], I will stop giving tax breaks to corporations that ship our jobs overseas, and I will start giving them to companies that create good jobs right here in America.
“I will eliminate capital gains taxes for the small businesses and the start-ups that will create the high-wage, high-tech jobs of tomorrow.
“I will cut taxes – cut taxes – for 95 per cent of all working families.
Because in an economy like this, the last thing we should do is raise taxes on the middle-class.

Forgetting for a moment that Obama has, in the past, called for tax hikes on Americans making as little as $41,500/year and that this new call for middle class tax cuts is either a lie or a massive flip-flop…what exactly does tax cuts for “95% of all working families” mean?
Why just 95% of working families? Why not all working families? Are there some working families that are getter than others? What has this 5% of working families done that Obama doesn’t think they deserve a tax break?
Also, what’s the definition of a working family? Poor and middle class families? Does that mean that rich families haven’t worked for what they have? Or even just upper class families?
How does it feel, you Americans who The One doesn’t plan on giving any tax relief, to know that Obama doesn’t think you work for what you get?

Didn’t he call for higher gas taxes? Don’t poor people pay gas taxes?

Considering just how little time Barack Obama spends at his job, it’s probably fair to say he doesn’t work either.

To find out what happened to the workers of Csepel, read a bit here. We must not forget what history has taught US about communism.

‘THEY WERE LYING to us 50 years ago and we made a revolution! They’re still lying to us today!’ This was the sentiment of many on the angry protests of tens of thousands outside Hungary’s national parliament building this September. Fifty years ago, students and workers had poured into the same square as they began their revolution.”

If anyone is truly interested in discriminating between lies and The Truth, take a read above. The communists lied. They are lying today. They will lie tomorrow.

According to Marxist ideology, only those that do manual labor are regarded as “workers”. Managers, investors, bankers, venture capitalists and all those who provide jobs for the workers aren’t “working families” in Obamaspeak. He’s selling Marxism, folks! His taxation of capital formation will make sure that the job growth will be only in the govt sector, which is just what the socialists want for this country.

MSLSD is a lap dog for Obama and they are not objective.
They don’t even hide it anymore.

Good point GOON,I have also attempted to learn what a “working family” is to no avail.
Another elusive, emotionally charged phrase that’s used by our socialist friends is “living wage” – no matter how hard you try, you’ll never get them to state what income a “living wage” is.
Is someone who’s not making a “living wage” dying?

I will cut taxes – cut taxes – for 95 per cent of all working families.

The first thing we need is a little bit of honesty when discussing tax and economic policy options, although clearly Mr. Obama doesn’t agree.

For example: Do 95% of all working families currently PAY taxes. No! Barely half of US adults actually pay any income taxes now. So let’s start any serious discussion of federal tax policy by acknowledging that what is being offered here by Obama isn’t a tax cut, but a subsidy taken from one working family and given to another. Reducing the tax rolls while increasing the tax burden on the nation’s most productive citizens and calling it a “tax cut” is not only bad policy, its blatantly deceitful.

Then there is Obama’s implicit dishonesty in his ambiguous use of the term “tax cut.” For while he may have federal income taxes in mind here, he has called for increased taxation of business income, capital gains, dividends, social security, and a host of other federal taxes and “fees.” Where do those tax hikes figure into that “95% tax cut” rhetoric?

Nearly two-thirds of US voters own stock in one form or another, such as mutual funds, 401-Ks and IRAs. Obama’s call to raise capital gains and dividend tax rates certainly will certainly diminish the value of those holdings and increase the tax burden on those holdings not tax deferred or similarly protected.

It would be a lot easier to respect Obama in spite of his inexperience if he was less inclined to devious pandering and more inclined to be honest about his policy intentions.

Baracks Speech was great democratic red meat. Im sure he spoke to the hearts and minds of hillarys people. By the way did anyone hear Chris matthews of msnbc? He basically endorsed barack obama on air. Whats up w that? Anyone who thinks NBC is unbiased is smoking large amounts of crack. Did anyone else read in the FargoPhantom.com “Barack Obama The Mile High Messiah in Denver?”
Lets see what the Goverment Channel has to say at FOX News tonight. Looks like a successful Speech and will prove to be a strong force of change.

Maybe McCain should take Hillary as VP.
THat would unify the Nation & guarantee a win.

What it means is that we neither have a Democrat nor a Republican this time around. We have two Republicrats, hideously deformed abominations of nature.

We have two socialists. The socialist who hates his country (Obama for the stupids) and the Socialist who loves his country, and while wanting to tax it, would really prefer the people stay alive (McCain).

Didn’t he call for higher gas taxes? Don’t poor people pay gas taxes?

Bill Clinton raised gas taxes and claimed he only raised taxes on “the rich.”
He lied and Barry O is lying as well.

Agreed. With two candidates with very similar policies, it’ll be an IQ test in November, with those that vote for either instantly failing.

I’m guessing families making over a certain amount of money are not considered to be “working,” which will likely come as some surprise to them. Imagine Obama telling an associate at a law firm who makes $140,000, but works 80-90 hours a week, that they are not “working.”

I told my wife it is a life. What is considered a working family? All of us work… Sounds like fuzzy liberal math.
BHO’s whole speech sounded like the communist manifesto.
