Obama: I Think America’s Ready For A Mature Discussion About Race

From blog posting complaining about Fox News at Barack Obama’s campaign website:

Sen. Obama gave the speech he did on Tuesday because he believes that Americans are ready for a thoughtful, mature discussion about race, and are hungry to move past media-generated controversies that distract from the struggles they face in their everyday lives.

Hey, I’m as ready for a thoughtful and mature discussion about race issues in America as the next guy, but I question whether or not Barack Obama is ready for such a thing given his reverend’s propensity for blaming everything from the HIV virus to the 9/11 attacks on the racism of white America.

Or the “U.S. of KKK-A,” as Rev. Wright is wont to put it.

It seems like you’re questioning whether Barack Obama’s reverend is ready for such a thing, not Barack himself.

I can understand your confusion. They all look alike to me too!

Obama attended his church for 20 years.  That’s clearly the sort of racial discussion he subscribes to.

Barack Obama is probably right that America IS ready for just such a discussion.  Whether that discussion should take precedence over a discussion about our conflict as de facto leader of Western Civilization with radical Islamist terrorism, or a discussion about putting our nation’s fiscal and economic affairs in order as part of the de facto global economy is, in each case questionable.

I would also question whether young Senator Barack Obama is actually qualified to lead such a discussion.  he is undoubtedly a rising star on the Left, all the more so because he has roots, purportedly, in both the black and white communities.  But we have heard precious little from himn about his white heritage, other than his recent speech in which he figuratively threw his white grandmother under the bus.  And his choice of place of worship and his choice of primary spiritual advisor, and his chosen associations in other fields certainly leave substantial questions in the minds of many about his judgment and his wisdom.

Finally, I question whether his desire to instigate this discussion about race in any qay qualifies him to be President of the U.S.  I don’t believe so.  Barack Obama is a stirring and charismatic speaker, at least when he has a teleprompter handy.  But his bold proposal strikes me as a purposefully elegant diversion from subjects that should more properly be discussed this election year.

Objectionable though they both may be, there is room in this country for both Jeremiah Wright and David Duke.  We have more pressing problems.  And thus far, Barack Obama’s answers are, charitably, on the thin side.

Obama actually just gave a speech indicating the exact opposite; I’m surprised you didn’t hear about it. (Don’t worry, I’m sure it’s “excerpted” for you.) I’m not sure, but it might take more than a YouTube collage of a candidate’s one-time pastor to “clearly” determine the specifics of his views on American racial relations.

Just kidding! It’s already been decided!!!

An honest discussion would have to start with the enslavement of blacks by the Democrat Party Welfare State for roughly 5 decades and the Democrat Party policies of preferences that tell the black community they are incapable of succeeding by their own efforts. Next it would have to have discussions of Black against white and Jews racism. Without these two being front and center, any discussion would prove to be a meaningless waste of time.

I wonder if Obama would like to have that discussion with any Canadians?

Obama may very well be an opportunistic racist...meaning “I’ll fit in here as long as it’s beneficial to me”.  So much for “not politics as usual” huh?

JPGR on March 21, 2008 at 11:43 pm

Neiman, I agree with what you said would be needed for a meaningful discussion about race in this country.  The only problem is that the dems will never admit that they were in favor of slaves and the view that colleges are teaching that black people can’t be racist since they do not have power to enforce racism.  At least that is what NDSU is teaching their resident assistants in training!

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

they do not have the power to enforce racism

That same crap is being taught in colleges where I live too.

When 3 or 4 thugs confront someone in a dark, deserted parking lot, they have all the power they need!

Hey, I’m as ready for a thoughtful and mature discussion about race issues in America as the next guy,

Yes Rob is ready.  Because clearly when you talk about the USA that has a long history of racism, he is all ears.  In fact, when you bring up the KKK and the fact that it lives in the US.  He is ALL ears.

Except of course when Pastor Wright talks about it.

http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2008/02/20/racist-attacks-on-obama-growing-more-heated/

With the selection of Barack Obama as the first black Democratic nominee for president seeming more possible by the day, racists and white supremacists are posting increasingly ugly and even threatening remarks on the Internet.

“OBAMA WILL DIE, KKK FOREVER,” concludes a Feb. 15 post by “Rodney” to a blog run by a person identified only as Strider333. Above that signoff, Rodney wrote: “The KKK or someone WILL assassinate Obama! If we get a NIGGER President all you NIGGER’s [sic] will think you’ve won and that the WHITE people will have to bow to you[.] FUCK THAT.”

On traditional white supremacist and neo-Nazi sites (for instance, here and here), there are lengthy discussion threads about what would happen if Obama were elected president. Dozens of those posts are derogatory and employ all kinds of racist slurs. Others speculate that such an Obama victory would kick off a race war between whites and blacks. And some even raise the possibility that he could be assassinated. But talk like that is rare and extremely careful — probable evidence that the “white nationalists” who inhabit these sites are deeply concerned that their comments are being monitored by law enforcement for any criminal threat relating to the presidential race. In fact, Obama reportedly received federal Secret Service protection unusually early in the campaign season because of concerns about a racially motivated attack.

But remember folks.  Rob is ready for a discussion about race.  Did you see how many posts he already addressed about this issue?  Yes, THAT many.

but I question whether or not Barack Obama is ready for such a thing given his reverend’s propensity for blaming everything from the HIV virus to the 9/11 attacks on the racism of white America.

Or his audacity to mention that the KKK lives a healthy life, here in America.

Yes Rob.  Clearly you have the racial relation interests of America in mind every time you dismiss a wonderful speech about it and politics, given by Obama.

You.  Are.  A.  Phony.

Or the “U.S. of KKK-A,” as Rev. Wright is wont to put it.

Indeed.  The KKK is clearly not an issue to Obama.  Why should Wright talk about it?

Sigh.

Another mindless rant ragging on Rob!

his audacity to mention that the KKK lives a healthy life, here in America.

A large organization, Han-job? Or a tiny minority of disaffected whack jobs? Is it larger than the Black Panthers? I don’t characterize the US as the US of Black Panther A, just because a few whack jobs live here! Hell, I don’t even characterize Hawaii as the False Assumption Capital of the World just because YOU live there!
Take your phony “sighs” for a long walk off a short pier. Thanks for only mentioning Rob three times in your hit piece! Come back when you have either an honest point or a mind!
Sigh. smile
