Obama Has Re-Defined What “Tax Cut” Means

For most of us, a tax cut means people who pay a tax pay less of it. For Barack Obama, it means sending out a check to people who don’t pay a tax.

One of Barack Obama’s most potent campaign claims is that he’ll cut taxes for no less than 95% of “working families.” He’s even promising to cut taxes enough that the government’s tax share of GDP will be no more than 18.2% — which is lower than it is today.
It’s a clever pitch, because it lets him pose as a middle-class tax cutter while disguising that he’s also proposing one of the largest tax increases ever on the other 5%. But how does he conjure this miracle, especially since more than a third of all Americans already pay no income taxes at all? There are several sleights of hand, but the most creative is to redefine the meaning of “tax cut.”
For the Obama Democrats, a tax cut is no longer letting you keep more of what you earn. In their lexicon, a tax cut includes tens of billions of dollars in government handouts that are disguised by the phrase “tax credit.” Mr. Obama is proposing to create or expand no fewer than seven such credits for individuals…

Obama’s plan isn’t a tax cut. It means putting more people on the government dole.

It’s just a typical Dem welfare program, designed to turn the American middle class into just another dependent class. Stealth Marxism.

George Orwell would be proud, although you shouldn’t give him credit for this. The Dims have been calling welfare a tax cut for a lot longer than this clown’s been around.

    PRVanHorn,

Thank you, Sir. Several of us, R108 and I in particular, have long argued that the static economic analysis relied upon by those on the Left is unreliable, inaccurate, and hugely self-serving, when compared with dynamic analysis which accounts for changes in people’s behavior in response to changing circumstances and economic conditions and parameters.

You’ve made that very same argument succinctly. Thanks again.

Proportion of GDP has been used by both sides, and is a valid measurement. However, it is obvious that Obama lies about what that proportion would actually be. His calculations do not account for the fall-off of business production due to over taxation, or layoffs, or many other factors that will fall due to tax increases.

Tax increases WILL HURT Americs, PERIOD

Way to go Obama. Encourage slackers to live on being parasitic leeches off of us hard working class.
