Obama Happy To See Insurance Company Stock Prices Plunging

The other day I posted about thug Democrats threatening the insurance industry with burdensome new regulations and tactics if they didn’t stop opposing the quasi-health care nationalization efforts in Congress. Liberals, of course, poo-poo’d this as so much conservative paranoia and hyperbole.
But witness today Obama getting positively giddy at news that insurance industry stock prices are dropping. Obama sees his thuggish, bullying tactics working and he likes it.

U.S. President Barack Obama said on Thursday that the drop in the health insurance stocks this week was a sign the industry has become nervous that a healthcare reform bill may pass.
“This is when the insurance companies are really going to start gearing up,” Obama told a town-hall event in New Orleans. “Their stock went down when the Senate Finance Committee voted out that bill. Now they’re getting nervous and, by they way, they have been wildly profitable over the last decade.”

Right. How dare they turn profits. How dare they make money providing an in-demand service to people. That has to be stopped! We can’t have companies just making whatever amount of money they want.
What do you think this is, a free country?
This is not how government is supposed to work. In our society, government is supposed to be the referee. The impartial rules keeper thereto enforce the laws our representatives write. But more and more the government under Obama isn’t an impartial rules-keeper. More and more, the government under Obama is putting on a uniform and getting in the game. They’re taking over companies. They’re actively fighting against other companies.
And while this behavior certainly isn’t unique to Obama or other Democrats, there’s no doubt that they are the worst perpetrators of it in modern American history. Perhaps since Franklin Roosevelt.
While our economy stumbles, while millions are losing their jobs and millions more are struggling from paycheck to paycheck, Obama is all but applauding the downfall of a private industry that has gotten in the way of his political agenda. Which is really quite revealing. Obama’s agenda here isn’t freedom and independence for you. Obama’s agenda here is more power for him and his allies.
If it were otherwise, Obama would be looking for ways for you to be able to take care of issues like insurance on your own instead of looking for ways for the government to manage those issues for you.

He’s selling the Marxist Big Lie that business is something separate from the people who get what they want from business and who work for business. His “class struggle” mythology is the justification for persecuting businesses and businessmen.
He’s just doing what Marxists do.

If only Dairy Queen franchise fees had not been so steep. H would have made a perfect manager of a south side Chicago Dairy Queen. Can’t you see him behind the glass counter, his paper hat perched jauntily on his head, putting that little swirl on those cones and sundaes, with a huge smile. The wife could be out back doing the books, and the kids would come in to work weekends. Think of it. Think of never having heard his name. I blame Warren Buffett, and his crew ,for their excessive franchise costs, when all is said and done. Funny thing is, they will be paying the cost, along with the rest of us, and our children, and grandchildren, for their exclusivity. While I’m at my keyboard I’d like to thank the teachers of our country for not teaching our students how to think but, rather, how to feel, these last few generations. And special thanks should go to those who selected “the Partisan” to run against the one. And to those who voted against GW even thou he wasn’t running.

badlands4, been there, done that, still doing it. GOOD LUCK … best advice i can give you is to look at the private univ. there is enough help for the students that makes them equal to the price of the public univ. with out as much (it is still there though) liberal brain washing going on. there are some other things you can do … GET PROFESSIONAL HELP WITH THE FASFA FORM . Almost all school councilers do not know the tricks. Used a guy in minot, (college finnancial services) made a big diff. lots of $ out there if you know how to get it.

Yup! BO and his liberal bretheren have accomplished more than Bin
Laden could have ever hoped to imagine.

The certainty of both the demand for health care and the cost of that care that exists in a population of 300 million is so absolute as to negate any possible gain from “innovation” in how the payments are serviced. The entire “health insurance” system is easily automated and has no need for egotistical humans fiddling around attempting to make a profit out of selling snake oil. The actual health care services are a different matter entirely. But the insurance system is a statistical science and not subject to opinion or innovation in any way. THERE IS NO UTILITY GAIN.

  • robert108

Again you lie, dino; no taxes were “cut”; tax rates were reduced, which resulted in more net revenues to the Treasury. The problem, as always, is wasteful social spending.

  • sayanything-48

But the insurance system is a statistical science and not
subject to opinion or innovation in any way. THERE IS NO UTILITY
    GAIN.

I disagree. If you’re only talking about potential innovations in
actuarial, you may be right, but I’d be willing to be that there are
    efficiency gains there as well.

However, “actuary” is hardly the whole boat for insurance. Innovative
ideas have dramatically increased performance, speed to market,
effectiveness, and cost reductions for insurance carriers. Not long ago,
everything to do with an insurance policy was predicated on a piece of
paper. That paper had a trail several miles long and may have been shipped
to multiple sites for processing. Electonic forms have reduced that paper
use drastically and in many cases to nil. Electronic processing has also
allowed the time it takes to apply for and receive a policy to record low
levels. Many agencies offer quotes on the web, allowing the agency to cut
out the salesman and allowing the customer better oprotunity to comparison
    shop for products.

Innovation takes many forms. One carrier just released the ability to “name
your price” rather than offering products that the customer has to choose.

On the claims side, many carriers are now offering smart phone applications
or simpler web based applications to make a claim. They cut the agent out
of the process, thereby reducing the cost to the carier.

That’s why public schools cost so much.

That’s not why. The reason education costs so much is because of
Government subsidies that allow the schools to reduce innovation and
increase waste. When the govt subsidizes anything, there’s a
disturbance in the force of supply and demand.

A school can only accomodate a certain number of students, prices are
set to keep supply commisurate with the demand. When govt subsidizes,
supply is still a stagnant number… Schools get used to competing
for govt $ rather than competing for students by reducing costs.

Add in the mentality, like yours, that services should be “free” and
    costs necessarily rise.

Oh, RA is back with his racist rants in the form of BobA…go away….go far away….go quickly

One more sector to take over or outright destroy.

  • sayanything-2

See? Barri is the same as dinothefakehomo, both want to watch everything burn, both want America torn down and Americas economy destyroyed, neither of them will be happy until millions of people in North America are starving. That is their goal. dinothefakehomo keeps telling us this, Barri simply lies about his goals.

  • sayanything-2

Funny, it only shows up when you do, and when you leave it goes too. Why is that? Suckpuppet much?

  • sayanything-2

dinothefakehomo, racist and homophobe, why does bobA disappear when you leave, and reappear when you come back? Why is that?

  • sayanything-4124

Well good morning Dino. Since you make alot of assumptions and charges, and rarely are they ever true, I will simply wish you a good morning and have a great day.

  • sayanything-2

Technology is definitely changing the insurance industry, and that is one of the things Democrats and some Republicans are fighting. Efficient and effective insurance operations are undermining the numbers of people who want government run healthcare. THAT is one of the main reasons they are trying to push this through quickly. And also why they are fighting tooth&nail to stop actual insurance regulations reform.

  • sayanything-48

Not just them… think about the retirement accounts that had funds in these stocks, one of the few still showing profitability… but we wouldn’t want our firefighters, et al, to have a decent retirement fund… Nooo… Profits are bad!!!

I used to work for Blue Cross of FL… Glad I’m out of that gig. That was, by the way, a Not-For-Profit company.

  • samdodd1

America is going to hell in a handbasket. This guy is intentionally driving our economy into the ground so that more people can be on welfare and thus controled by the government. Scary Stuff!

  • sayanything-4124

As someone who has a child who is enrolling in the spring for College, and having a bit of sticker shock, even for a smaller, “cheaper” school, I wonder what the profit margin is for universities vs even evil oil or insurance?

  • sayanything-4124

    Uh huh…..

You have a nice evening Dino

  • sayanything-4416

A new name for an old stupid stem.

  • sayanything-6955

Wait until thousands of people who work in the insurance industry are out of work, then you will really see “giddy”. This man is hell bent on destroying America.

  • sayanything-4416

Hey badlands and farm4money: Do you think college should be free? LOL, too bad!

It’s you who voted to cut taxes. That’s why public schools cost so much. Now I laugh while your kids take on tens of thousands in debt. See, that’s what happens when you don’t want to pay taxes and want the rich to stop having to pay more to support public institutions. It’s why all of our public institutions are failing.

I worked at a public university in the early 00s. During the election season for governor, the college republicans put signs up all over campus waring people not to vote for the democrat or he’d raise tuition. I laughed. Here these idiots were anti-tax but didn’t want to have to pay more for tuition. Did they think the university was going to run on AIR?

    Idiots. Like all conservatives.

  • sayanything-4416

I not only hope the insurance companies’ stock drops, I hope they slowly go out of business and die.

  • sayanything-101

Obama is just following the Saul Alinsky play book; destroy the status quo in order to implement Marxism.

  • sayanything-4416

    He’s one of yours.

Scratch a conservative, find a racist underneath.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

And Buzz wasn’t one of yours?

  • sayanything-8436

Barriboy’s stock is falling faster than the insurance companies, and it’s well deserved.
