Obama Gathers Big Business And The Political Elite Around Him For His “Jobs Summit”

With the economy continuing to struggle, and his economic rescue efforts to date (the “stimulus,” the auto bailouts, the bank bailouts, cash for clunkers, etc.) having collectively failed, Obama is desperate to be taken seriously on economic issues. So in order to get his mojo back, Obama his staging a much-hyped “jobs summit” where presumably he and a bunch of hand-picked experts will decide how to fix everything that ails us.
But I’m looking at the list of people who will be attending this summit on Thursday and I’m not encouraged. Big business, big labor and big government all coming together to figure out what’s best for the rest of the country?
These are the same jerks and idiots who have been screwing things up all along.
Maybe that statement is a little broad. Maybe some of these attending this summit (especially those coming from the private sector) had nothing to do with the status quo we find ourselves in. But this approach is certainly part of the problem.
Because it’s such a top-down approach. The elites coming together to sit in a room and map out what’s best for all the rest of us? If that sort of central planning worked Soviet Russia, and not the United States, would be the world’s super power right now.
