Obama Flubs The Oath Of Office

He knew this was happening today, right? I mean, you’d think he’d have rehearsed or something.

I guess they should have replaced Justice Roberts with a teleprompter.
For all the grief Bush got for being a poor public speaker (eight years of the left and media calling him stupid), at least he got the oath of office right. Will the left call Obama stupid too for his speaking gaffes?
Don’t count on it. He’s The One.
As far as I’m concerned, I wouldn’t care if the President had a stutter so thick he (or she) was all but incomprehensible. I care more about our national leader’s policies than I do his/her ability to speak. Substance over form, right?
But what’s ironic is that Obama was elected thanks to a flashy campaign that was long on soaring rhetoric and flashy stage craft and short on substance. With Obama, Americans chose form over substance. But they guy can’t string five words together without a teleprompter.
Hilarious.

On ABC news Obama just admitted that he fumbled the oath.

The first in a long string of errors to be made.

  • sayanything-2407

At a moment like this, anyone would be nervous so I can understand why both men spoke incorrectly.

    I can believe this.

Both were probably very nervous, one being Obama and Roberts first time and the magnitude of the historical event, I can bet they were nervous.

As much as the media is trying to paint Obama as smmoth and cool with it all, I can bet you he wanted a cig REAL bad during all this – I know I would have.

  • sayanything-2407

    JazzyKat:

BHO has done “ZERO” in his life but hang out with communist anti-American racists and domestic terrorists, while ketoing for political favors in corrupt Chicago. He will fall flat on his face if left to himself…That’s why he picked all the Clintonites to join him on the Hill. He knows nothing, has done nothing, and is nothing beyond a narcissistic left-wing brainwashed racist commie.

Anyone can be President (within the guidelines set as prequisites).

That being said, and seriously no animosity in saying this, but what in Obama’s background and being, has garnered him such a following, for lack of better word.

What is it about the man, and his background, that makes him such a ‘obamessiah’ as some name him?

I am not looking for rants and raves, but seriously ask this question…what is it about him that has risen him to such status?

  • Hannitized

Rob should put a correction on this post. But he wont, and he never does when he has been caught lying and purposefully misinterpreting reality.

More sleazy tactics from Rob, and his lil buddy, Proof…jumps on the sinking ship with all of his gear.

    HA! Too funny!

  • andophiroxia

And I will remember how the world will love us and all things will be made better only to find out the same old corrupt shit and more in spades with the incoming Obama administration.

Oh yeah the prayer was great, considering that “whitey” had to bed back too.

More sleazy tactics from Rob, and his lil buddy, Proof…jumps on the sinking ship with all of his gear.

Unfortunately for the Tiki Troll, with all the holes in his logic and his inability to carry water for Obama, (much less hold his water), he plays the S.S. Minnow in this little vignette! Heh.

  • NoJelly

    Aw shoot, that was today?

Gee, well maybe I'll catch the next inauguration…

For all the grief Bush got for being a poor public speaker (eight years of the left and media calling him stupid), at least he got the oath of office right. Will the left call Obama stupid too for his speaking gaffes?

Notice how Rob talks about how the left picked on Bush for screwing all the time, then pretends he doesn't care if Presidents screw up, but all he has done throughout the campaign, and after, is pick on Obama for things he couldn't understand and label them gaffes?

Then he picks on things like this and makes a stink about it, but acts like he really doesn't care? Oy Vey!!

Either you have to agree Bush was an idiot, it you think Obama is being an idiot. Or, you can think neither of them are. Which is it?

  • http://www.dartemis.net/blog/ sayanything-42

So eunuchized the beardless catamite of the "freudian projections" and severe reluctance bordering on inability to admit error, how does it feel to know that George W. Bush, former President of the Untied States, is better educated, better spoken, and generally more comprehensible than YOU are?

  • andophiroxia

First of all I don't think Obama is an idiot. He just believes in the wrong premises. Marxism has been disproved over and over again, yet he was schooled and spoon-fed these values and never really tried them himself in real life. I think he doesn't have a grasp of how the real world works–considering all he's done is politics and education.

Again, your myopia is shown that we conservatives blindly agreed wtih everything he did. Not so. We criticized him when we saw things he was doing as potentially destructive and hell, even some people give Obama that he is smart as well.

You guys just insult and get all hyperbolic like a bunch of emo schookids.

  • Chris

You may notice that the oath was recited incorrectly by Chief Justice Roberts. President Obama started his lines early, but the misplaced words started with Roberts's leaving out "faithfully" and replacing "of" with "to". Mr. Obama did not repeat the incorrect line right away, and Roberts attempted to correct it. In the end, it appears that not all the words were included in the oath. At a moment like this, anyone would be nervous so I can understand why both men spoke incorrectly.

  • andophiroxia

    For clarification:

    You guys= liberals

    • fgfgfgfg

      break it down yow!

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

You may notice that the oath was recited incorrectly by Chief Justice Roberts. President Obama started his lines early, but the misplaced words started with Roberts's leaving out "faithfully" and replacing "of" with "to".

It's not that hard to just repeat what the man is saying. But yeah, they both goofed.

Even so, this is hilariously apt given Obama's inability to speak without a teleprompter during the campaign.

I think the liberals need a sense of humor. I laughed and cringed as Bush mangled speeches and statements. We're going to get more of the same from Obama.

Only Obama won't get made fun of by Jon Stewart and the media, because Obama's the liberal messiah.

  • Onslaught

Notice how Rob talks about how the left picked on Bush for screwing all the time

I believe you're thinking of Clinton.

    Oy Vey!!

    Do you also say "Havaii"

  • http://suitepotato.blogspot.com/ sayanything-4808

No one is going fault Barack Mua'dib Obama now. Wait two years when the image of a failed economy, failed nation, failed world that the MSM put in the minds of the people gleefully throughout the eight years of the Bush administration isn't fixed. THEN people will be faulting the messiah-elect.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Either you have to agree Bush was an idiot, it (sic) you think Obama is being an idiot.

    Obama's speech coach! Heh.

Someone get that bonehead a teleprompter!

And did Di Fi say "Oaf of office? Heh.

  • Hannitized

Actually, Obama did not screw up the Oath at all. It was Roberts who screwed it up and Obama caught it….and that is what threw him off.

    Here is what Obama said:

"I Barack Hussein Obama do solemnly swear, that I will execute…the office of President of the United States faithfully, and will to the best of my ability preserve protect and defend the constitution of the United States, so help me God."

But Robert's changed the words from: "the offices of President OF the United States faithfully"….to: "the offices of President TO the United States faithfully"

    Here is what is required:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

So Fox is making a mountain out of a mole hill

Obama caught Roberts screwing it up…and you guys chastise him for it.

    TOO HILARIOUS!!

    HAHAHA!

  • Hannitized

Robert's also put the word "faithfully" in the wrong place. I think this is also what threw Obama off….

Leave it to Rob to blame Obama for someone else's mistake.

  • imagine

It was pretty clear that Roberts 'bushed' it up, not Obama.
However,In your defense, I suppose we all see and hear what we want to see and hear.

  • Gentle Girl

Wow – Roberts screws up the oath, Obama catches it and stops, thereby avoiding reciting the incorrect oath, and you post a headline that says Obama flubs it. You are a liar and, more importantly, a coward. This will be remembered if you ever try to present legitimate objections to President Obama's policies.

Well saying it right or whatnot, does Obama fully intend to carry out his office according to the Oath of Office then?

By his earlier audio that I read, probably not. By his earlier ties, most likely not, and by the Reverend that read that racist invocation, no way in hell.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

    I did get it right.

Obama apparently couldn't just repeat what Roberts said.

He flubbed. Did Roberts say it a little out of order? Maybe, but it's not difficult to just "repeat after me."

  • andophiroxia

Maybe, but it's not difficult to just "repeat after me."

I wonder if Obama has been doing that in his campaign all this time.

  • Hannitized

Obama apparently couldn't just repeat what Roberts said.

If he had, he would have said it incorrectly. That would have given you the ammo to claim he should have known, which he did.

He knew Robert's was off, and gave him a chance to correct and Roberts screwed it up again and Obama picked up exactly where he left off, not missing a beat but he probably assumed Roberts was right on where the word faithfully was placed.

Rob is just being a dip shit, as usual.

These fucking pukes make me sick.

  • Hannitized

A leader leads, a follower follows.

Rob probably got used to Bush being the follower, so he has the same expectations of Obama.

This is just another example of how much smarter Obama is to Bush.

Bush did not even clap after Obama took the reins. The poor lil guy will have to rely on spinsters like Rob to re-write history.

    Hilarious.

  • andophiroxia

Remember, it's HOW Obama says things, not what he says.

The Reverend that read that racist invocation is pretty much a sign of things to come. How quaint.

Rob should put a correction on this post.

    No, I shouldn't.

Watch the video. Obama interrupts Roberts by speaking too early, and then they both flub the second part.

    Hilarious.

Honestly. Get a sense of humor. Obama isn't really the Messiah. You won't go to hell for laughing at him.

  • andophiroxia

Watch the video. Obama interrupts Roberts by speaking too early, and then they both flub the second part.

  • Hannitized

Yes, you should put a correction. Because it was Roberts who blew it, not Obama.

Obama tried to give Roberts a second shot. That is the inverse of what your story suggests.

Watch the video. Obama interrupts Roberts by speaking too early, and then they both flub the second part.

That is due to cadence. You don't flub cadence, you merely pick up where you left off, as Obama had done. Obama even picked up in the appropriate spot.

And how did Obama flub the second part if he just repeated what Robert said, AS YOU REQUESTED?

Obama was put in an awkward position, because of Robert's inability to read the oath properly.

Quick being a dip shit Rob.

  • crshedd

He flubbed. Did Roberts say it a little out of order? Maybe, but it's not difficult to just "repeat after me."

    rob, rob, rob.

obama wasn't suppose to just 'repeat after me'. the oath is in the constitution, and it is to be repeated verbatim.

republican roberts screwed up and you blame obama for not 'repeating' that screw up.

we all now know how the next 4-8 years are going to be 'reported'.

Either you have to agree Bush was an idiot, it you think Obama is being an idiot. Or, you can think neither of them are. Which is it?

Considering part of my job is to correct public speakers, I can say that I've never met one who has never flubbed a speech. Bush caught unneccessary flack for stumbling across a speech here and there.

When on script, Bush was every bit as elouquent as Barack was…on script. When they both winged it, the results were not pretty. This has no bearing on their intelligence, it just means that neither one is a particularly gifted public speaker.

Te difference is, right wingers never petended Bush was a good publc speaker.

This is just another example of how much smarter Obama is to Bush.

Right. And fairies really do exist.

If he had, he would have said it incorrectly. That would have given you the ammo to claim he should have known, which he did.

We both know Rob wouldn't have given him crap for that. But others would've. The B.O. truthers would've rode it for days. So I've gotta admit, it was a good all for him to correct Roberts.

It did. I am not above admitting that.

But any honest person can see that Barack stopped and attempted to get Roberts to repeat and correct his error.

I think it should be noted in this story that i was Roberts who first screwed this up.

Although, it could be argued that Obama speaking prematurely could have thrown Roberts off his track. But, that doesn't necessarily look good for Roberts either.

Listen to all these braindead leftists defending their Messiah-in-Chief.

Yes, there's no doubt that Roberts blew his line. But he fumbled AFTER Obama blew his line.

    The first phrase was:

"I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear…"

But Obama began speaking right after his name. Watch the video closely. Roberts did NOT pause after Obama. His lips were still moving. The volume of his voice did go down, but I think that was caused by someone on the mixing board switching the microphone over to Barack.

Don't believe me? Watch the YouTube video of Biden's oath. The first pause comes AFTER "do solemnly swear."

The UNDENIABLE FACT is that Obama jumped the gun. That, in turn, could have disrupted Roberts. I won't make excuses for Roberts' mistake though – he should have had a note card. But Obama's supporters don't have a problem saying "excuse me" every time Obama farts.

So they both screwed it up. Does that matter? Of course not! People screw up vows and oaths all the time and it's something to laugh about.

Something not worth laughing about is that from Obama's VERY FIRST WORDS as president, his worshippers are lying, re-writing history, launching recriminations, and actually creating conspiracy theories that Roberts intended to sabotage the oath.

I'd vote Obama dictator-for-life if we could put all his supporters on a ship and sink it in the deepest part of the ocean.

  • http://collectingmythoughts.blogspot.com/ Norma

"Good greif. The dude flubbed a line. It's not indicative of his intelligence. . ."

They seemed to think so when Bush made mistakes. His intelligence was constantly questioned for 8 years because he was a poor public speaker. Still, he didn't stammer because he didn't have to stop and figure out which audience he was addressing.

Also, although I tried hard to miss the inauguration, I could hear it from the kitchen where I was serving lunch, and Obama made the first mistake by not repeating his name, and then he threw Roberts off. From there, they both made mistakes. Obama should have gone with what Roberts said and no one would have known the difference.

But I have not commented on BDS issues, nor do I select easy flubs where he makes mistakes, like the "Fool me once" line he blew. That is Rob Port, bullshit.

I never bought into the "Bush lied, people died" line. But later, when the special report "Cheney, The Dark Side" came out, it really revealed how much Cheney and his co-horts changed policies and practices to advance their agenda and to confuse the American public.

  • http://www.discerningtexan.com/ DiscerningTexan

I am a fairly over-the-top conservative but I think it was Roberts who screwed it up. Roberts was the one who first said: "…I will execute the duties of President of the United States faithfully…" instead of the correct "…I will faithfully execute the duties of President of the United States…". I personally think Obama knew what the correct wording was, which was why he paused the first time Roberts stated it wrongly.

I'm a conservative, and when Obama starts doing things that really hurt our country I will not be one of the sheep that follow him off any cliffs. But with that said I think the screw-up today was Roberts' fault.

However if I were Obama, I might just set up a meeting with Roberts and take the correct oath in private–just in case some shoot from the hip zealot tries to take it to court because Obama did not utter the Constitutionally mandated oath.

My own take is that it shouldn't really matter that the words were transversed; the sentence meaning is not impacted. Besides, I have a hard time believing that Obama will ultimately preserve, protect OR defend the Constitution in any case. To him the oath is–using Obama's own language–"just words…"

I hope I am wrong about that, but I doubt it.

  • Hannitized

Now that is how you meet in the middle. Thanks for your balanced opinion Texan.

Roberts also said [ of "the" President "t" the United States "faithfully", he just didn't move the word faithfully. Robert's made (3) mistakes.

To be fair, one could argue that Obama's interruption of Robert's made him blow the oath, but any reasonable person should expect if Obama had rehearsed, Robert's could have thrown him off.

Even though you are harshly critical of Obama. In this case you have dealt a fair hand. Congrats.

The liberals can blame the Justice, but the world saw an idiot who couldn't repeat simple words. They should have put a teleprompter in front of Justice Robert's face and let Barry O. read the oath. His speech was a snoozer too (what I watched of it); so phony as his eyes followed his teleprompter side to side as he read its scrolling silly cliches; as usual it was the same hype and rhetoric of the campaign trail, no solutions, no specifics to stop the meltdown, other than building more roads…as the dow drops below 8,000 – He may have the lefties salivating in his puke of hope and change…but Wall Street is not buying it!

Act like a bunch of little brats singing Nah, Nah, Nah…Nah, Nah, Nah…Hey, Hey, Goodbye, as they were departing DC; and make infantile gestures like Rahm did…The whole world saw the foolish immaturity of Obamanuts today, so please…don't be such a hypocrit.

I tell you what, we'll give BO the same respect over the next 4 years, as you liberals gave President Bush. How's that for fair?

I don't care how many of you say Roberts messed it up, and how Obama actually knew the oath and was just giving him a chance to correct himself and all that. Obama screwed it up FIRST! If he had really practiced saying the oath, he would not have interrruped Roberts at the beginning. Face it. Obama messed it up. You can't blame it all on Roberts.

I have commented on things I think Bush has truly screwed up on, that is acceptable.
But I have not commented on BDS issues, nor do I select easy flubs where he makes mistakes, like the "Fool me once" line he blew. That is Rob Port, bullshit.

    You're full of shit.

You've called Bush every name under the sun.

    You ARE BDS.

I'm not buying your obvious nonsense.

That being said, and seriously no animosity in saying this, but what in Obama's background and being, has garnered him such a following, for lack of better word.

What is it about the man, and his background, that makes him such a ‘obamessiah' as some name him?

First of all, he doesn't have such a following. DC was expecting 5 million, they got 2 million at the inauguration. According to Census figures there are over 307 million Americans. So you do the math, 2 million out 307 million is one tiny little fraction of the whole. 22% of that 307 million voted for Obama. 78% of Americans did not vote for Obama….20% voted for McCain, a small number voted for one of the stragglers and the rest did not vote at all or were not old enough to vote.

His "Obama Messiah" celebrity status is frankly just media hype.

Of the 22% that voted for him, most did not do so out of knowledge, because the MSM didn't vet him, nor expose his many Anti-American alliances or his lack of experience or even his alarming voting record. Zogby's poll of those who voted for Obama showed an overwhelming majority, didn't know any of the negatives about this man. They didn't even know which party was in control of Congress (D or R); and I dare say, a lot voted for him because he was Black and the media made such a hoopla about his mantra of "hope and change," but the biggest reason was because they hated George Bush and would have voted for a Democrat if he had been the Antichrist or Devil himself on the ticket.

The same voters, knew a lot about Sarah Palin…but what they knew was also based on what the media fed them, not on facts. Some of them attributed Tina Fey's comment "I can see Russia from my back door" to Palin, so they didn't even know the difference between SNL's farce and the truth. The media attack machine went into over-drive when Palin stepped on the scene and Obama was lifted up as the "chosen one." The media had him elected before the vote was even taken.

Even with the power of the internet, the media is a very powerful tool that manipulates the minds of the people. They use propaganda, distortions of facts, and media hype to sway those less then knowledgable Americans.

Well, it is no surprise that you can not accept anything your opponent says.

Given that you can not provide a single example of me calling Bush names, or any criticism of him that does not fall under the category of "reasonable", I think I can just dismiss your attacks as HDS.

This is the cadence that one could assume Roberts was going to deliver. But Roberts delivered the first two sentences with a pause, which could throw things off.

Reagan didn't credit Carter with any good deed, just as Obama did not credit Bush. Reagan also talked about the economic failures he was inheriting.

Fox News was outraged. I wonder if they knew their precious leader was just as courteous as Obama.
