Obama Fills Sand Bags In Illinois

What’s this?  The liberal messiah can’t just make the flood waters recede by his say-so?

Or does he only get those powers upon entering office?

Comments

Too bad he didn’t help the Katrina victims in the same way! It’s not too late. Maybe he could encourage those folks to help them selves a little?

No he cannot. In the mean time you stay home and wait for the conservative liberator.

ellinas on June 15, 2008 at 06:33 pm

Why didn’t he just walk on the water?

I know but I will not tell you.

Where is all the machinery? What kind of idiot resorts to doing things manually, risking injury in the process?
What a goofy showboat!

In the mean time you stay home and wait for the conservative liberator.

And just what have you been doing to help the flood victims?

You don’t have to be a moron to be a liberal Democrat but it sure helps.

Icannot fill sandbags. I am in California.

Machinery?  What machinery. Last time I checked sand bags are filled manualy. If machines exist they are not at this sandbagging site.

Granted, its been years since I did it (1993 was our last major flood), but back then it was all manual. No machinery at all. Just a shovel and piles of sand.

Obama/Biden is not change. It’s more of the same.

Kenny on June 16, 2008 at 06:02 am

Oh we filled plenty of sand bags by hand, but what’s the point.

Why are people gladdened by this stupid photo op and outraged because Bush chose to stay out of the way?

I suspect that more people get it but the press is going to keep spinning it as long as they can.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

What’s all the fuss? They should just sit on their butts and wait for the federal government to shower tax dollars upon them.

Your guys hatred for the unfortunate is appalling.

Lestat on June 16, 2008 at 08:02 am

I see it as distaste for people that refuse to help themselves but insist upon playing the victim and demand that everyone pay for their misfortune.

I heard of people around here going to help with the cleanup who left after a couple days.  They weren’t going to bust their butts while the able bodied home owner was sitting in a lawn chair watching them.

I can’t imagine where the stereotype that conservatives aren’t compassionate comes from.

Lestat on June 16, 2008 at 08:20 am

Lestat:  Unfortunately, there are some whose cynicalism is distasteful. Please don’t assume that all conservatives lack compassion.

I would have to challenge someone who thinks that thinks that an able bodied person is better off NOT being asked to help themself.

In fact I would contend that winds up resulting in more misery and bad things for the person.  It also is worse for society.

That of course has nothing to do with anyone who is truly needy and unable to fend for themself.

In fact conservatives give more money to charity than bleeding hearts who define compassion by how much other peoples money they can give away.

I don’t know about Lestat but Pparents seems slow on the upchuck now and then.  For both of you Kevin was making fun of the New Orleans guys not the people in the current flood.

Oh!  Did you think I was referring to you or Kevin?

That’s odd.

Lestat,

The notion that liberals are more compassionate than conservatives is a self-serving myth which has already been thoroughly debunked. (See here, and here.

What is true, however, is that those on the Left are far more enthusiastic about spending other people’s money as an expression of their own compassion.

Put another way, liberals are far less restrained by the personal private property rights of others when a demonstration of their own, self-styled moral superiority is concerned.

I can’t imagine where the stereotype that conservatives aren’t compassionate comes from.

That’s because you define compassion as confiscating the earnings of the productive, giving them to the political class, with a trickle going to the non-productive, for vote-buying purposes.

Actually filling sandbags is a pretty smart political move.  Even if he does look like a girl the way he handles that shovel.

Carrick on June 16, 2008 at 09:08 am

Even if he does look like a girl the way he handles that shovel.

True that.  In every video I’ve seen where he’s shown full-length and moving around, he looks like a girl.
Very interesting.

I can’t imagine where the stereotype that conservatives aren’t compassionate comes from.

Maybe from the same place that gives us the stereotype that liberals aren’t patriotic?
Think all stereotypes are true? (That would just confirm the stereotype of fuzzy headed liberal thinking!)

It reminds me of the times Nd’s three stooges in Congress have shown up to some disaster here wearing brand new flannel shirts and Levis.
