Sounds like Obama just made the case for closing down USPS. They can't compete, are subsidized by taxpayers, and keep raising their fees. Let the companies who know how to run a business for profit deliver the mail. Or at least limit the USPS to those deliveries it can profitably provide.

I didn't see his townhall(I assume this was his event yesterday?), so I am not sure what the context was of the segment leading up to this remark, but just judging from that one comment…he makes the point of those who are against a public plan. I cannot figure out why he would try and use that comparison as a reason to have a public option when the other govt run "public" options are being so badly run into the ground, rife with fraud, waste, abuse and inefficiencies(which would be the kind of comparison between USPS and Fed Ex/UPS that would most normally pop to mind).
