Obama: “Everybody’s Going To Have To Give”
Can we stop for a moment and admire just how wrong-headed Obama’s “everybody’s going to have to give” comment really is? Obama made the comment to George Stephanopoulos (video), suggesting that the road to economic recovery lays with Americans giving more to the government?
At a time when Americans are losing their jobs and struggling to pay their bills Barack Obama wants to make their bill for government larger. So that Obama and the rest of the politicians running the government can save us all, I guess.
But is increasing the burden of government on Americans in a time of economic instability really the best move? Shouldn’t we be wanting to make Americans’ paychecks larger? And isn’t one sure-fire way to do that substantial cuts to tax rates? Wouldn’t Americans who have just lost their jobs, or who are struggling to get by, appreciate keeping more of their own money in their wallets and purses?
And it’s great to talk about sacrifice, but what sacrifices is this Democrat-run government prepared to make? Why must all the sacrifices come from the taxpayers and none from our government representatives who so gleefully spend our money day in and day out?
If Obama wants to talk about sacrifice, how about sacrificing some unnecessary government spending and then giving that money back to the Americans in the form of tax cuts?
Or would that make too much sense?
