Obama Didn’t Know About Key National Intelligence Agency

He learned about it from one of the employees at the agency while visiting a burger joint. Here’s C-SPAN footage of the exchange:

Now, the National Geospatial-Intelligence agency is no obscure cog in the government’s national defense wheel. The NGA was the agency that provided the images of the missiles in the Cuban Missile Crisis. When the President looks at maps and satellite photos while addressing a particular military or strategic issue, the imagery provided is usually from the NGA.
That Obama doesn’t know what the NGA is…is troubling.

I thought the origional headline said “Obama doesn`t know about intelligence.”

  • Hannitized

Palin not knowing which doctrine the reporter wanted=massively important.

Why don’t we take your criticism seriously again?

We all know you are covering for Palin again Kenny. It wasn’t that she didn’t know which doctrine, it’s that she didn’t know what a doctrine was.

Palin didn’t even have a position that she could reliably stand on.

Obama doesn’t need to know the name of ever agency that provides him intelligence. What does knowing the name do? I mean, it would be cool that he did, but not knowing doesn’t cost anything.

Palin not knowing had a cost.

    ODS..

    ODS..

Such a thing would have a Republican mocked for years.

Yet to point out that the President doesn’t know a key intelligence agency is derangment? What nonsense.

hell, bush didn’t even know that he required a passport for americans to go to canada.

This is not a company…it is a government agecny. The name is plastered all over the bottom of every satallite image that is attached to an intelligence report from the DIA, CIA, etc.

Given that Obama is trying to merge the government with business it is no suprise that an idiot liberal such as yourself would think they are the same.

please tell me that gwbush knew about this company.

tell me of any president who would even come close to naming every single company that provides services to the government.

    another lame slam from conservatives.

conservatives spend so much time on this piddley little s**t that it is hard to take them seriously when something real comes along.

C’mon! The guy didn’t have his teleprompter with him! He’s lucky he can remember his own name!

Although it does make it easier to understand how he could sit in Jeremiah Wright’s church for twenty years and not remember anything! (They don’t allow teleprompters in the pews!)

Exactly right…this is a FEDERAL AGENCY, and a big one. It isn’t a company you moron!

I am shocked at this…sadly with some understanding. NGA is not obscure, yet not everyone knows very much about them. That is fine…but NOT for the President. The point is that everyone uncomfortable with him is afraid of his lack of awareness or slanted view of reality…about A LOT of things! I don’t know the tax code, but I sure know about the IRS. I don’t know every gun law, but I know about the ATF. I wouldn’t recognize ecstasy pills, but I sure know who the DEA is. The President doesn’t need to know all the details, but he @#$% sure better know who provides them to him! If you don’t think NGA is relevant, you are entitled to your opinion. But at least let that be an informed opinion. I bet the Obama apologists on this issue don’t know much about NGA either, but if you or Obama aren’t going to find out a little bit about the truth, then your future complaints about “government failures” spring from absolute ignorance and hold no weight. I bet 90% of those who complain about the “out-of-fashion” War on Terror couldn’t find Afghanistan on a world map if their life depended on it. Those of you who care, call NGA. They have the maps. Those of you who don’t care, call North Korea. They love people like you. In fact, they’re counting on you.

“Hannitized” spins for the jackass, Expecting the President to be familiar with every single federal and DOD agency that exists is sheer nonsense…

False construct. Nobody was expecting him to know “every single federal and DOD agency that exists”. That’s just your bullshit spin. What’s really going on is that people are pointing out that Obama didn’t know about an important (that’s what “key” means in this context) national intelligence agency.

Pointing that out is not “derangement”. That’s just desperate spin on your part.

Have fun with your blatant hypocrisy “Hannitized”, but don’t expect people here not to call you on your bullshit.

  • LoadTheMule

Expecting the President to be familiar with every single federal and DOD agency that exists is sheer nonsense, and pure derangement if you are going to criticize him for not knowing every one.

Who said anything about knowing ‘every single’ anything? With all the security-related problems/issues extant, do you really think it’s unreasonable to expect the President to know the primary intelligence gathering/analyzing agencies?

If you say you do think it’s unreasonable, I submit you’re being disingenuous. Your reaction seems to be no better than the Bush-can-do-no-wrong supporters that you railed against prior to Obama’s election.

One of the reasons many of us here refuse to engage in discussion anymore is because there is so little discussion. It’s simply a room divided into two sides, each rooted in polarized hate and with minds like concrete (thoroughly mixed and permanently set)–batting a ping pong ball of recrimination and insult back and forth across the net while trolls stand on the sidelines (like monkeys at the zoo) flinging shit at the participants.

It would be indescribably refreshing to have some discussion around here. But–like Dennis Miller–that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong. *shrug*

What would you do if you, temporarily, forgot the name of your girl friends mother when you’re supposed to know it? That’s right, you’d fluff around it for a time till you can, with an aside, ask your friend to refresh your memory. The dullest swain does this, instinctively. Our President, it’s plain, does not have the mental dexterity to handle this, benign, temporary loss of memory. There are peoples of this world, especially Orientals, who consider a gaffe, such
as forgetting a name, to be a serious breach of protocol. This, along with the DVDs, the Ipods, bowing to despots, manhandling the Queen in her home, and snubbing her regarding D-Day,does not bode well for our diplomatic efforts. Would Someone check and see whether Michelle’s Mother isn’t being paid as our Chief Of Protocol. Wouldn’t surprise me, at all, if that were the case.

  • Lioncourt

This is ridiculous. He is talking to somebody about there job.

    Here’s the problem:

When the President looks at maps and satellite photos while addressing a particular military or strategic issue, the imagery provided is usually from the NGA.

Who says he looks at maps and satellite photos while addressing military or strategic issues. I’m not at all convinced that addresses such issues to begin with. And apparently, the North Koreans aren’t either.

  • Hannitized

Exactly crshedd, it’s one thing to bring up legitimate concerns. It’s quite another to be peacocking.

These are the same people who didn’t think it was a big deal that Sarah Palin didn’t know Bush’s doctrines. She didn’t even know what a doctrine was.

  • docdave

please tell me that gwbush knew about this company.

I’m betting that he knew that he had 52 states. Obama doesn’t know shit about anything except his agenda to socialize our country. Nothing else matters to him.

  • http://insanereindeer.blogspot.com/ Kenny

Expecting the President to be familiar with every single federal and DOD agency that exists is sheer nonsense, and pure derangement if you are going to criticize him for not knowing every one.

As LoadtheMule points out, this is the major imaging one. While it’s not the CIA or the FBI, it’s still up there. This isn’t like not knowing the St. Louis Strategic Defense Agency of the West Side. It’s a big player, who provides the President with any images he uses. So they play a part in his briefings.

Him not knowing them is problematic, to say the least.

  • http://insanereindeer.blogspot.com/ Kenny

These are the same people who didn’t think it was a big deal that Sarah Palin didn’t know Bush’s doctrines. She didn’t even know what a doctrine was.

So Obama not knowing a vital agency that supplies him with photos=not important. Palin not knowing which doctrine the reporter wanted=massively important.

Why don’t we take your criticism seriously again?

  • Hannitized

    Kenny,

Expecting the President to be familiar with every single federal and DOD agency that exists is sheer nonsense, and pure derangement if you are going to criticize him for not knowing every one.
