Obama Descended From Slave Owners

White slave owners…

WASHINGTON — Democrat Barack Obama, who would be the first black president if elected, has white ancestors who owned slaves, according to a genealogical researcher.
The researcher, William Addams Reitwiesner , says the discovery is part of his first draft of research into Obama’s roots. Obama’s father was from Kenya, and his mother was a white woman from Kansas.
…Reitwiesner found in 1850 Census records from Kentucky that one of Obama’s great-great-great-great grandfathers, George Washington Overall, owned a 15-year-old girl and a 25-year-old man.
The same records show that one of Obama’s great-great-great-great-great-grandmothers, Mary Duvall, also owned two black slaves.

Here’s my idea: The next time someone brings up reparations for slavery, they go to the descendants of slave holders first. Pony up, Barack! It’s only fair!

    Proof, I know you were being facetious about going to the descendants of slave holders for reparations, but the idea that there is a "blood sin" that passes from generation to generation (which is the idea behind reparations when you think about it) is rather odious.

    I just think it would be funny if liberals like Barack were to ones asked to pay out of their own pockets (an option that is certainly open to the Obamas.)Hmm! Wonder if that might make Michelle proud of her country?

    For quite some time, several of us on the right were mocking the idea of white guilt. Talking about cases like Obama where someone of mixed race comes in. He's half white, does he pay? He's half black, does he receive? Since he's rich and half white, does he get a fraction of the half he's entitled? Does he just pay his share to himself?

    This is the problem with identity politics and white guilt. It creates stupidity like this.

    He'd either pay or get nothing at all. His black side is black african, not black american. The idea of reparations is for the decendants of black american slaves, not black african or black anything else.

    It's too late to do it now, with bloodlines all mixed up. If it were to happen it should've in the late 1800's.

    I wouldn't want it anyway(I'm black), I don't need anyone's handout. The idea of it in 2008 is just ridiculous.

    This idea would be rather odious, yes. But I believe the argument behind reparations is, in fact, that slavery left an entire class of Americans stripped of almost everything, and that their descendents still face demonstrable disadvantages today as a result. Not that there is a "blood guilt" or that Americans today should pay to atone for the sins of their ancestors.
