Obama Debt Watch: 192 Days: One Trillion Dollars Plus

image

According to the Bureau of Public Debt, Obama has racked up $1,042,374,300,592 in new debt since taking the oath of office on January 20 of this year. In comparison George W. Bush actually [paid off some of the] debt during his [first 192 days]. (Blue Line.)
In reality that comparison is a bit unfair. Prior to assuming office GWB was Governor of Texas and did not have a lot of influence on the national debt in his first months of office. Of course that’s a different story for Barrack Obama as he was in the Senate prior to advancing to the White House. Since he supported all of the spending programs in the Senate he is as responsible for the debt incurred during the last 6 months as anyone. The last all-Republican budget year was FY 2007 which had a $160 billion dollar deficit.
That’s right, it’s only been a little over six months for Obama to bankrupt us.
By the way, feel free to use that graphic all you want. (Sorry it’s kinda crummy.)

    AV:

Do you really smart people remember that there was a housing bubble, and then trillions of dollars of funny-paper created by privately owned financial institutions? Who was president at the time? Who was the Fed chairman? And did the market effectively self regulate?

First nobody here (I hope) argues that markets “self-regulate” very effectively. There is a role for government in the creation and enforcement of regulation. “Well regulated market” doesn’t imply no regulation anymore than it implies complete government control.

Secondly, the meltdown was not caused so much by a lack of regulation or laissez faire government practices as much as by politically driven overt government interference with the market.

Then, when it became clear we had a problem back in 2004, the liberal heroes in the US House interference stepped up to the plate and defended their own creations.

Edited CSPAN footage of the carnage that ensued.

In 2005, it is true that many political activists worked hard on the behalf of F&F to prevent much needed reform, but really the moment had already passed. 2004 was the “sweet spot” when meltdown could have been prevented.

Not only did he inherit a huge deficit he inherited a decimated economy that had contracted by 6%, a contraction that persists to the point that tax revenues are down more than since 1932, the last time we had a republican Depression.

I wonder where those revenues are that the tax cuts were supposed to bring?

I’m just glad your cute little kids and grandkids will be the ones growing up in a declining country with greatly diminished futures brought on by your voting habits.

Tell them I said, “Good Luck!”

Um… the Iraq conflict is a good example. You are clearly siding with the enemy when you endorse obviously flawed studies llike this one

But, I’ll make it easy for you AV.

Point out one time you’ve take the side of the US over one of its sworn enemies.

I know you haven’t because that’s well … too passé, and as I said is well outside of your programming.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

No, he supported the 1.3 Trillion dollar deficit Rob and then has done everything he could to make it bigger.

I don’t know which bills Obama actually showed up to vote for and which he didn’t. But since the budget came out of the Democrat controlled Senate I’m not buying that he was against it one bit.

I have a friend visiting from Germany. I asked him how the Germany economy was going. He said, terrible, the governments is taking over banks, buying up car companies, there’s high unemployment, and now they are offering an incentive to buy a new car, by offering a 2500 euro rebate, on old cars. Sound familiar?

    Bush’s fault to, huh, Dino?

I can answer that. The blame belongs to Bush, Greenspan, and free-market ideology.

Free-market capitalism has failed. Only someone as dumb as a conservative would not see that.

    Markets do not self-regulate.

Free market capitalism like bailouts, handouts, government backed mortgages, etc.

    What utter claptrap.

Anyone who says something as stupid as “markets don’t self-regulate” is an idiot.

  • J.L.

“Free market capitalism has failed.” Gee, then what happened to that ‘other’ kind of system that the U.S.S.R. had? Oh, wait- they`re not around anymore! I wonder why? But we are. What an idiot.

And now who is the poor sod that has to try to fix it?

You see, you America-hating, low-life scum-bags are the very embodiment of what it is to be a conservative. You play your part in destroying the economy and blame the guy who has to fix it.

That terrible free enterprise system that forced people with no jobs and no equity to buy homes. They were such victims. Non of them thought to say hey, why are you giveing me this loan.

  • robert108

…trillions of dollars of funny-paper created by privately owned financial institutions?

The funny paper was created by the Dem social engineering affirmative action home loan quota mandates. The bubble was caused by Dem market rigging that generated a false demand signal. Bubbles are always caused by trying to rig the market to get a predetermined social outcome by artificially lowering prices. Always.
Obama’s welfare deficit spending is creating another bubble right now.

  • robert108

Free-market capitalism has failed. Only someone as dumb as a conservative would not see that.

    Markets do not self-regulate.

All economic growth is the result of fiscal conservatism(living within our means).
The only markets that don’t self-regulate are those which are rigged by the govt to get a predetermined social outcome.

  • Geoguy

    “Free-market capitalism has failed.”
I love it when idiots who are too dumb to change a damn lightbulb make grandiose statements like that.

It takes a wealthy, prosperous nation to produce so many well-fed stupid people.

Umm, I’m not a collectivist like you.

All stuff, good or bad, is done by individuals. I side with individuals acting to make the world a better place. When people (US or not) act for increasing liberty and justice, I support them and those actions, and when against, I don’t.

Action of individuals representing the US are sometime good and sometimes bad.

Too complicated for you? Tough. Anyone who gives blanket support, even when bad men are doing bad things, like Reagan+Iran-Contra, is not a patriot. They are traitors to American ideals.

  • http://insanereindeer.blogspot.com/ Kenny

Umm, I’m not a collectivist like you.

In other words, I have never once supported the US.

    It really IS that simple.

All stuff, good or bad, is done by individuals. I side with individuals acting to make the world a better place. When people (US or not) act for increasing liberty and justice, I support them and those actions, and when against, I don’t.

And yet, all you support is bad. You defend the Viet Cong, teh Iranian Guard, whatever.

As I showed in the other thread, with YOUR comments, you defend evil against good.

    Jackass.

Why won’t you prove your accusations against me Kenny? Is it because you are lying maybe?

I have. In the other thread.

An example of one of your many lies Kenny:

Yet the history there is sound.

The people of the South rejected the North. You don’t give a shit about that though because you’re a filthy communist who got his ass handed to him in that thread.

    Asshat.

  • http://insanereindeer.blogspot.com/ Kenny

Forgive me Zig, but your comment in that thread was too great to pass up…

    This is NOT mine:

They didn’t care when the Chinese were dying after 1949.

They didn’t care when the Eastern European were dying through the 1950′s and 1960′s.

They didn’t care when the Cubans were dying after 1959.

They didn’t care when the Vietnamese, Laotians or Cambodians were dying after 1973.

They didn’t care when the Rhodesians (Zimbabwe) and South West Africans (Namibians) and South Africans were dying after the mid-1970′s.

Once the tyrants are in control, the US-based Left take a sudden disinterest in their internal affairs, now that their internal affairs have been completely FUBAR’d by Commie infiltration.

But in the cases of pre-invasion Iraq, they followed the hand’s off approach for Saddam-the-Slaughterer, and again, after the invasion, when the Iranians were importing arms and training terrorists and infiltrating them across the border into Iraq.

They consistently side with Murderous Tyrants.

Somehow Tyrant has lost its impact as a word. Perhaps we need a new one that conveys the murderous evil and sheer human misery that is inflicted upon people when one of these gets in power–any time, any where.

Read that 6 or 7 times AV. That is you. Whether you are defending the Viet Cong, the Khmer Rouge, the Iranian Guard, whatever, you are siding with murderers and rapists, who kill innocent people, because you are a walking talking piece of liberal trash. You’re not merely a fool, as fools sooner or later wake up and recognize evil. You lie and distort and spin and twist in the name of monsters and SOMEHOW have the balls to call others as being on the side of darkness.

I’d tell you to eat shit, but I wouldn’t want you to engage in cannibalism.

  • Buzz
