That point about the failure of MAD is correct.

Islamists would rather be dead than see their cause fail, dying in the course of the cause is noble, and killing in the course of it no sin. In short, Islamists are pretty much Klingons.

You say that Klingons are fictional. I would point out that they were invented by humans, their culture invented by humans, and thus inherently drawn from the conscious and subconscious understand humans have of their nature. The Klingons, Ferengi, Romulans, etc. were all societies modeled on the extremities of human aspects. Violent self-righteousness, acquisitiveness, suspicion, and so on.

We see the phenomenon of people not only not afraid to die but looking to do so all the time. Ask the police about “suicide by cop”. What do you do with an enemy willing to die right there, and wanting to take as many people with him as he can including his own compatriots?

Islamists talk of crusades and crusaders constantly and westerners react so incredulously as to not react by way of not believing it is all real, and in so doing miss the point that the Islamists know that the crusades and crusaders were over centuries ago, and that their efforts now are to monkeywrench the non-Islamic world to the point that we can no longer avoid dealing with them.

Like Paul Atreides egging on the Fremen to destroy and kill on Arrakis to FORCE the Emperor himself to intervene and come personally there, the Islamists want to force a confrontation between them and us.

They want to force us to become crusaders and crusade against them so that they can use it as after the fact justification for all their crimes against their fellows and us.

And the way to make that happen most surely is to allow it to continue escalating until we have no choice but to give them what they want or surrender to them. I’m sorry for those with pretty dainty sensibilities but you need to have a much longer view and approach this as a matter of life and death. Yours or theirs.

Highest chance of success against them is a three pronged approach.

1. Eradication of Islamist ideologues at the top of the most listened to charts. Hamas’ leadership, Al-Queda leadership, Iranian and Saudi elements at large. Whether by death or removal from the board to prison, or rendering them utterly irrelevant through discrediting them completely.

2. Improve prosperity among their target populace. The end of the oil is coming. Not because we’re running out though that is sure to happen, but because the world’s technological progress is headed away from using it as a fuel. Without that, the middle east has no real exportable product but Islamism. A poor as dirt middle east will be insanely dangerous. It behooves us to do something about it. This can only happen if we are several times more wealthy in the west than we are now and the culture of live simply that others can simply live is a pernicious bit of stupidity that is a surefire recipee for global deprivation and in the face of such, chaotic evil reigns.

3. Spread not democracy or other outward affectations but the cultural knowledge and philosophy which are their underpinnings without which we in the west wouldn’t care for them either. Our philosophical foundations for these things we cherish descend from a millenias long investigation into human nature. Only when free inquiry into the nature of man flourishes do philosophies result which lead to our recognition of the worth of policies which lead to freedom. Witness the hiccup of the dark ages in Europe and then the renaissance after.

As I say a lot, it is not going to be easy and will take commitment. If we do not have the stomach to stand by it, it will overtake and destroy us. The target audience of Islamic Supremacists are our fellow humans. They deserve better than to be left to the Islamists without an intellectual fight.
