Obama Brags About Getting His Political Supporters Money From The Government

Of course, he left out the part about the businesses in question being owned by his political supporters.

In a speech to the Urban League last July, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., boasted of his efforts in 2001 to help a handful of African American-owned investment firms in Chicago get a larger share of business with Illinois state pension funds. “And in six months, they got about a half-billion dollars’ worth of business simply on their excellence,” Obama said.

What he did not say in his speech was that the owner of one of the investment firms, John Rogers of Ariel Capital, is a principal campaign fundraiser. Nor did he reveal that employees of the firms he helped have since contributed to or helped to raise more than $765,000 for his campaigns, according to campaign documents. Nor did he mention that two of the firms have allowed him to use their private jets. Nor did he mention that two of the firms have since been dismissed by the state pension fund for “underperformance.”

Just more evidence of that new-style of politics Obama is ushering in, though it keeps bearing a remarkable resemblance to the same-old-same-old.

Unless you are willing to support public financing of elections this is unavoicable.  Every legislator supports certain policies.  Those who benefit from those policies are naturally going to support them.

Move along folks, nothing to see here.

Oh.  Right.  And you liberals never whine about the oil companies supporting Republicans.

Do you know you’re being a rank apologist, or does this sort of dishonesty just come naturally?

Barry O is just another product of the Chicago political machine. Any claim to the contrary is just another lie.

I support public financing of elections.  I think the whole system is corrupt.  You are being the hypocrite, not I.

Unless you can show some quid pro quo from Obama, this is all just baseless slander.

Obama gives them half-a-billion in government conracts and they raise 3/4’s of a billion in campaign money for him.

Securing government contracts for specific business entities is not merely Obama and these businesses supporting the same policies.  That’s Obama giving them tax money.

Also if I were lying (and I’m clearly not despite your apologism for Obama to the contrary) it’d be libel, dummy.  Slander is spoken.

But hey, you spelled your nickname right.  So you’ve got that going for you.

3/4’s of a billion

Of course that should be million.  But what is a few 0’s between friends.

Have you done any research to find out how he helped these firms get this business.  My guess is no, because you aren’t interested in whether it was legal or not.  It doesn’t make a difference to you as long as you can imply wrongdoing that is fine with you.  Definition of partisan hack.

ie. All that hype about hope and change, no more politics-as-usual, is just the BS we knew it was. Expect more of the same from Barry.

And imagine that: those favored with affirmative action being put in situations over their heads and under-performing. Hey, it was probably only retirement funds or something silly like that that were being poorly invested. No biggie.

When you look at it like that, Obama getting the number of states right within ten, actually looks pretty good!
