Obama Begins With 68% Approval Rating

I wouldn’t expect it to last:

WASHINGTON — Americans have soaring hopes for the incoming Obama administration and an even higher opinion of the man they just elected president, a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows.
Nearly seven in 10 adults, or 68%, say they have a favorable opinion of President-elect Barack Obama. Nearly that many — 65% — say they think the country will be better off four years from now.

Meanwhile, belief that our country is headed in the right direction is at an all-time low.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — On the day that President-elect Barack Obama visited the White House, a new national poll illustrates the daunting challenges he faces when it becomes his home next year.
Only 16 percent of those questioned in a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Monday say things are going well in the country today. That’s an all-time low. Eighty-three percent say things are going badly, which is an all-time high.
“The challenge Obama faces has never been greater. No president has ever come to office during a time when the public’s mood has been this low. In the 34 years that this question has been asked, the number who say things are going well has never fallen below 20 percent,” said Keating Holland, CNN’s polling director.

We’ll see what happens, but with the stage set for a repeat of Carter’s 1976 – 1980 term in office I doubt things are going to get better.
And that jab about Carter isn’t hyperbole either. In the 1976 election the electorate was ticked off at Republicans (thanks to Nixon). In the 2008 elections, the electorate was ticked off at Republicans (for saying one thing and doing another).
The last Democrat candidate for President to get a majority of the popular vote was…Jimmy Carter.
The last time Democrats had these margins of power in Congress (depending on how a few still-contested Senate races come out) was…1976.
The last time this country elected a President as liberal as Barack Obama was…1976.
All the pieces are in place. We’re in for four years of misery, with the only sliver lining being that maybe – just maybe – things will get bad enough for Americans to recoil in horror and then choose a decent conservative candidate.
Just like they did in…1980.

The left have set the bar too high for this guy. Unless he is holding out on some hidden talent that he has not used yet in his entire political career there is no way he will BS his way out.

I saw a Little video clip tonight on the news on how he and the little misses were overwhelmed on how they were going to move their furnishings into the white house. lol

Maybe his dopey sidekick Joe could get a pickup.

When is Barry going to order the donning of the hair shirts like Jimmy did?

I’m kind of dumbfounded that the guy who is going to take over as president hasn’t assumed office yet and already has an approval rating fifteen points higher than his popular vote percentage. I don’t believe this one bit. I also have yet to hear any solid plan from the pres-elect other than such original sound bits as “we need to act quickly”. Thank you, oh great political prophet. This is almost as original as the words ‘Change’ and ‘Hope’. 52% of the voting population just snowed the rest of the U.S.

Change we can believe in doesn’t seem to have happened.

Reason I say this is due to how low the Congress approval rating was, and instead of getting rid of those that had such poor performance, they re-elect the same ones / types in higher numbers.

    Most ethical congress? Most transparent?

Slogans only, none of it seems to have been put into practice.

Eh, I believe it. Personally, if you asked me do I have a favorable opinion, I would have to ask, “Of what ?”

He hasn’t DONE anything for me to approve or disapprove of. I imagine even a decent percentage of McCain voters are willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt, especially the ones that don’t really know much about him.

Heck, even I might give him a favorable vote until he takes office on day one and signs the executive order banning new oil and gas exploration. Up until then there is always the chance that he doesn’t.

Obama voters are the reason why there are so many “get rich quick” scams, “penis enlargement” scams and FREE “Large Screen HDTV” scams on the internet…
