Obama Appoints Rep. Jasper Schneider To Cushy “Gee Thanks For Getting Me Elected” Job
Rep. Jasper Schneider is a rising star among North Dakota Democrats, mostly because he introduced Barack Obama at the state Democrat convention last year and he looks good in the cliched “politicians wading through wheat fields in flannel” pictures (it’s how liberals in this state convince us that they’re just one of the rubes). And now Schneider just got appointed to a cushy ‘thanks for helping me get elected” post by the Obama administration where his job will basically amount to handing out checks for all the federal pork that gets spent in this state while wearing his best “vote for me” smile.
That way all the people getting the checks will identify him as their big government sugar daddy until it’s time to run for higher office again. Which he’s no doubt being trimmed to do.
And yes, I know Republicans do this too. And that sucks too.
In related news, Jasper’s uncle Mark Schneider also just took over the state Democrat party. Just a little history on Mr. Schneider: He’s essentially an ambulance-chasing injury lawyer who, along with friends in the media, manufactured a crusade against the workers compensation bureaucracy in this state (including a completely staged video report which had one of Schneider’s clients crawling on the ground for the camera) because his law firm wasn’t getting paid for representing injured workers by default. This put a serious dent in the Schneider family’s profits (Mark and Jasper were law partners), as this chart of earnings from WSI cases from 1997 – 2007 indicates:

Politics is a sleazy business, I think. But Schneider-style sleazy stands out even in context. Tags: Domestic Issues, North Dakota News, Politics
