Obama And Glass Houses

“I heard Ambassador Peck on an interview yesterday,” Wright declared. “He was on Fox News. This is a white man and he was upsetting the Fox News commentators to no end. He pointed out, a white man, an ambassador, that what Malcolm X said when he got silenced by Elijah Muhammad was in fact true: America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”

Who’d a thunk our own overt racist would pop up on this thread…

But Woof, why did you stop there in you “context” why not continue the next part:

Wright then went on to list more than a few U.S. foreign policy endeavors that, by the tone of his voice and manner of his expression, he viewed as more or less deplorable. This included, as has been demonstrated in the endless loop of clips from his sermon, bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki and nuking “far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon and we never batted an eye.”

“Violence begets violence,” Wright said, “hatred begets hatred, and terrorism begets terrorism.
...
So it seems that while Wright did believe American held some responsibility for 9/11,

So what is your context supposed to be?  Obama still spent years listening to and brought his children to the church of a man who agrees with hateful ideas.  It doesn’t matter where Wright got the ideas, he preached them from the pulpit.

You think we were attacked cause they hate our freedoms?
We armed and trained the mujahadim movement we are now fighting.

“Violence begets violence,” Wright said, “hatred begets hatred, and terrorism begets terrorism.

You don’t think American troops in Saudi pissed off Muslims?
You don’t think OBL is as interested in oil as we are?
America has interests
and throws weight militarily and otherwise. That makes enemies.

You think we were attacked cause they hate our freedoms?

Well, yes, they despise all western infidels whom they consider to be beneath them.

We armed and trained the mujahadim movement we are now fighting.

Yes, in retrospect that may have not been a good idea but that was in different times when the Soviets were the enemy.

The times creates necessity for less than ideal alliances. [We also armed and trained the Soviets to fight the Nazis]

You don’t think American troops in Saudi pissed off Muslims?

You don’t think that the Saudis were concerned with the expansionist goals of Saddam, especially after Kuwait?

You don’t think OBL is as interested in oil as we are?

Where do you think the funds that support Islamic terrorism come from?  The easter bunny?

Woofie, your simplistic view of the world and you negativism toward this country is blatantly illustrated in almost everything you post.  I’m sure you would be weloomed in Wrights so-called Christian church and in Obamas political camp.

Saddam and his military were done after Kuwait.

WOOF you ignorant racist cur,

The world is a dangerous and violent place.  It always has been, and current trends (see Rwanda, Darfur, etc.) indicate clearly that it is no less so now.

“My mother says that violence never settles anything.”

“So?" said Mr. Dubois bleakly.  “I’m sure the founding fathers of Carthage would be glad to know that.  Why doesn’t your mother tell them so.  Or why don’t you?”

They had tanged before--since you couldn’t flunk the course, it wasn’t necessary to keep Mr. Dubois buttered up.  She said shrilly, “You’re making fun of me!  Everyone knows that Carthage was destroyed!”

“You seemed to be unaware of it,” he said grimly.  Since you do know it, wouldn’t you say that violence had settled their destinies rather thoroughly?  However, I was not making fun of you personally; I was heaping scorn on an inexcusably silly idea--a practice I shall always follow.  Anyone who clings to the historically untrue--and thoroughly immoral--doctrine that ‘violence never settles anything’ I would advise to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it.  The ghost of Hitler could referee, and the jury might well be the Dodo, the Great Auk, and the Passenger Pigeon.  Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst.  Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms.”

You just have better men than yourself protecting your from that harsh reality.

You quoted some stuff, but there were no hateful ideas among them. What are you talking about?

“All the war-propaganda, all the screaming and lies and hatred, comes invariably from people who are not fighting.”

Another one with the fingers in their ears screaming “lalalalala”.

You think we were attacked cause they hate our freedoms?

The common leftist talking point is to quote the sentence where he said we should be out of Saudi Arabia, and to ignore everything else he has ever said. That he believes we are the worst society on the planet, full of sin and corruption. That he called us to embrace Islam or be destroyed. And that he hates everything we stand for.

While it is true that he wanted us out of Saudi Arabia...that is not the only reason he hates us. Our continued support of Israel, our “decadent and immoral” culture, and basically us standing opposed to him.

Kenny on March 23, 2008 at 11:43 pm

Speaking at the Washington, D.C., school’s Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel, Jeremiah Wright said, “We started the AIDS virus. … We are only able to maintain our level of living by making sure that Third World people live in grinding poverty.”

The pastor said in a sermon just after 9/11, “The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. The government lied.”

Hateful enough?
