Obama Campaign Accepting Fraudulent Contributions Again
8:04pm
One of the most under-reported stories of the 2008 campaign cycle was the fact that the Obama campaign was taking millions upon millions in small-dollar credit card donations with no protections against fraudulent contributions. There was nothing stopping big-money contributors from making lots and lots of small-dollar donations (which aren’t disclosed to the FEC) using pre-paid or even stolen credit cards and phony identities.
What was worse, the FEC reported after the election that while the McCain-Palin campaign fundraising would be audited (because McCain chose to take public campaign financing) the Obama campaign fundraising was not. This despite clear, and well-documented evidence that many of Obama’s contributions were, in fact, fraudulent.
Now, since they got away with it last time, the Obama campaign is at it again. This video shows contributions being made to the Obama administration, with nothing in the way of controls, under names like Adolf Hitler and Obama’s illegal immigrant aunt.
What’s telling is that when these sort of contributions are attempted at Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum’s websites, they’re rejected. The guy can’t even order a pizza online without facing more security than is applied by the Obama campaign website.
This is shameless. We can debate about what campaign finance laws should and should not be, but we know what they are now, and the Obama campaign clearly isn’t following them.
