NRA To Square Off Against Obama

Expect Obama to flee before the NRA’s criticisms with yet another policy shift toward a more gun-friendly position on par with his flip flops on public financing, FISA and illegal immigration:

The National Rifle Association plans to spend about $40 million on this year’s presidential campaign, with $15 million of that devoted to portraying Barack Obama as a threat to the Second Amendment rights upheld last week by the Supreme Court.

“Our members understand that if Barack Obama is elected president, and he has support in the Senate to confirm anti-gun Supreme Court nominees, [the District of Columbia v. Heller decision] could be taken away from us in the future,” Chris Cox, head of the NRA’s political arm, told Politico.

The politically powerful gun-rights group will split its message efforts between communicating with its 4 million members and the tens of millions more firearms owners spread across the country.

The people in the media hate guns.  Most of the political leadership in America’s urban areas hate guns.  But a majority of Americans like their guns, and I doubt there’s a politician in this country who can garner enough good will from Americans to campaign on a gun control platform and still win.

It’s just not gonna happen, so expect some photo-ops with Obama sporting a shotgun and some dead ducks this fall.

Thank goodness Obama doesn’t go for all that phony photo-op rig-a-ma-role. Apparently the media, and the politicians, think we are empty-headed dolts who can be easily fooled by the old boob tube. “McCain/Obama is tough on fill-in-the-blanks.”
As far as the Supreme Court being filled with gun control advocates, I haven’t heard of anyone retiring or dying soon!

In the past BO has been very weak on the 2nd Amendment. That is a cause for worry among Americans that think the 2nd Amendment is as inviolable by Congress or the states as is the 1st Amendment’s guarantees of Freedom of Speech.

SCOTUS is the Kennedy Court and he has demonstrated a strong liberal streak, on any given day he can reinterpret the Constitution to suit is ideology.

For those believing in original intent and the inviolability of the Bill of Rights, they have good reason to be worried, as even a Republican appointing a Justice can produce a Kennedy or O’Conner having no regard for original intent, preferring to appeal to international law.
Sometimes paranoid people have a right to be paranoid!

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn’t mean they are not out to get you.
