NRA To Award Palin An Alaskan-Themed Assault Rifle

I’m guessing in honor of the state’s upcoming 50th anniversary of statehood. Or maybe just because Sarah’s an all-around nice gal.

WASHINGTON – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was bashed for her pricey wardrobe, but now she’s getting a lethal accessory.
The National Rifle Association Foundation will present Sen. John McCain’s ill-fated running mate with a military-style assault weapon next week.
The all-white “Alaskan Hunter” – fashionable until Labor Day – is the civilian version of a modified M-4 rifle carried by U.S. troops overseas.
Alaska’s feisty Republican governor, who is weighing a potential 2012 presidential bid, will receive the rifle made by Templar Consulting at a May 14 NRA banquet.
It’s engraved with Palin’s name and adorned with a map of the state on the collapsible stock – made legal after the expiration of the assault weapons ban in 2004. The Big Dipper from the state flag is etched on the magazine well behind a vented barrel guard.

Put a bayonet lug on it and you have the dreaded first choice weapon of drive-by bayoneters! And nothing says concealed weapon carry like sticking a 12″ bayonet on the end of your rifle!

Zig, I live in a rural place. We have digger squirrels, rock chucks, sage rats, coyotes and they all make good targets. I also have a 17 HMR that I love to blow up rodents with. Of course the 22 is great for that, also.

the first time I heard about the MAC-10, it was called the Ingram and supposedly used as an silenced assassination weapon, hidden in a briefcase, equipped with a large suppressor and triggered by a device in the carrying handle of the briefcase.

If my memory serves me correctly 2H9′er is a big fan of hot, mid-caliber weapons and popping unsuspecting Prairie dogs from far away. The high velocity and flat trajectory seems to be a big draw.

Since it’s been years since I was last in Utah, there really hasn’t been a chance for me to do any Death-Dealing-from-a-Distance lately.

More’s the pity.

zig, I can put my rifle on my ATV, head out my lane, cut through my neighbors orchard and ride 25 miles to the top of a peak where I can see Mt St Helens, Mt Adams, Mt Rainier, Mt Hood and hunt deer, bear, Mt lion and varmints.

Zig, my personal favorite light centerfire weapon is a Ruger Model 77 in 243 that I have tricked out. I call it the lazer beam as it shoots so flat. I have taken many mulies and several antelope with it. I have popped ground squirrels way out at 300 plus with it. I believe in gun control, as in extremely tight groups.
