Not Making Any Friends
Recently I've begun to put a few of my posts over on Blogcritics.com. The first couple of entries went great, I posted a short review about a book and a movie. The problems started when I posted some of my more political writings.
Most of the people commented either agreeing or disagreeing but in a civil manner, until Mac Diva showed up. Since then she has called me a "dittohead" (which I took as a compliment) and a "parrot" for the conservative right. I do not agree with every ideal of the conservative right. On several issues, religion at the forefront, I am on the opposite side of the fence. I can't help it if I agree with conservatives most of the time, its how I feel. Is that so wrong? I'm certainly not going to apologize for it. I'm open-minded. I've often started off the day with one opinion and had it changed by the end of the day through civilized debate with friends or family.
Mac Diva went to call me a "so-called blogger." She cited me as an example of "bad blogging." I guess there's some list of rules somewhere that I must adhere to when expressing myself. If someone could link me to them, I'd appreciate it. My spelling is not always the best and my grammar could probably use some work, but aside from that I think I'm doing pretty good.
I'll I'm doing with this website is throwing my opinions out into a void. My enjoyment comes from watching people visit, read and comment. I write this stuff for myself more than anybody else. If you want to debate what I say great, I'm game. What I don't want is to be attacked.
There are nutcases like Mac Diva on both sides of the political spectrum. I'm sure they act the way the do for a variety of reasons, be it to garner attention or simply posturing. I do not enjoy it when they focus their attention on me. I have a temper and am often prone to banging out ill-advised comments or emails and firing them back as retribution which never fails to make the situation worse.
I'm going to try and deal with Mac and those of her ilk (I'm assuming Mac is a female) with equanimity. I don't like it, but I'll deal with it beause that sort of response is to be expected when one is voicing their opinions in a forum as large as the internet.
