North Dakota No Longer #1 When It Comes To Workers With Two Jobs
The state has gone from 1st to 8th.
(AP) North Dakota’s not Number 1 anymore and that’s a good thing.
The state now sports the eighth-highest multiple jobholding rate in the country.
Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics from 2006 which are the most recent available show just over 8 percent of North Dakota’s employed residents work more than one job.
As recently as 2005, North Dakota was tied for the top honors with Wyoming at nearly 10 percent.
This is an issue the Democrats in North Dakota have hit on again and again, but I’ve never found it to be all that convincing. Think about it. North Dakota is a state filled with seasonal workers. Construction. Agriculture. What have you. Given that, and North Dakota’s long winters, the reality is that a lot of people get a second job when they aren’t working their primary job.
It’s not necessarily out of necessity, but just the reality of their situation. It’s not anything to be solved, it’s just the way things are.
But you know how it is with liberals. Always looking for some way to cast citizens as victims so they can be rescued to higher taxes and more government spending.
