North Dakota Legislature Won’t Be Honoring Bono

The stupid waste of time, energy and (most importantly) tax payer dollars that was the resolution to honor U2 front man Bono introduced by Scott Kelsh (D - Fargo) has been shot down.

And rightfully so.  I know it was giving many of North Dakota’s far-left minority vapors, but c’mon.  Bono has never been to North Dakota.  And while he’s perceived as sort of world-renowned philanthropist, the reality of his “philanthropy” is that it is little more than lobbying world governments to spend more tax dollars on entitlements while he hides his own fortune in tax shelters.

If North Dakota’s legislature is going to recognize someone for their good deeds, how about someone who is at least from the state?  Or has at least been to the state?

That would make more sense, but whatever.  It doesn’t surprise me one bit that a big-government liberal like Kelsh would see no problem in wasting government time and our tax dollars on honoring his favorite musicians.

How’s your bill to have SA recognized as the official blog of the state going?

Not well due to heavy opposition from the left.

Which is weird.  I thought the Democrats all loved me.

Your right Rob its a waste of time. Were they going to bring Bono to the state with state money?

I think the GOPers have it right. If you really want to have a meaniful debate on the war have a debate on funding for the war. Then the american people can see if these people really support the troops and if they have the balls to show the world where they stand on the issue. My gut feeling is no.

That would be the real statement. Let Baghdad Murtha have his anti-american vote. I don’t care where he served or in what war.

I doubt we would have 17 benidict arnold republican making these types of political statements. If so then the GOP leadership should tell them to go caucus with the defeatocrastic Dems.
