North Dakota Judicial Confirmation Network Adds Two New Members

The opposition to Obama’s Supreme Court pick is gaining steam here in North Dakota as two more members of the North Dakota Judicial Confirmation Network have been announced.  Here’s the press release:

ND Judicial Confirmation Process Adds Two New Leaders

WASHINGTON – Last week, the North Dakota Judicial Confirmation Network announced their 2009 Steering Committee.  This week, two new leaders—Reps Todd Porter and Dennis Johnson have joined the committee.

According to Steering Committee Chairman, Rep. Rick Berg, “We are honored to have these two fine North Dakota leaders join this committee, as we continue to advocate for a responsible and thorough vetting of Judge Sonia Sotomayor.”

Along with Chairman Berg, Reps Porter and Johnson join Rep. Kathy Hawken, Sen. Joe Miller, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Duane, Rep. Chuck Damschen, Bismarck Attorney Robert Harms, Rep. Blair Thoreson, and Fargo City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn on the committee.

The North Dakota Judicial Confirmation Network is affiliated with the national Judicial Confirmation Network—an organization of citizens joined together to support the confirmation of highly qualified individuals to the Supreme Court of the United States.  JCN supports judges who interpret the Constitution, and opposes activist judges who legislate from the bench.

The group plans to find creative ways to impact the debate, including utilizing New Media tools.  Rob Port of the prominent North Dakota blog, “Say Anything Blog” is the Admin. for the group’s Facebook page, which now includes more than 100 members (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=88119488223&ref=ts).  The group also has a Twitter feed, which can be found atwww.Twitter.com/NDJCN.
