North Dakota Has A Senate Challenger…

...and it isn't Mike Liffrig this time around.

I have a name, but it was told to me off the record. I can tell you that it is a male and a farmer from the southeast part of the state, but that's about it right now.

Given the difficulty the NDGOP has had in finding a challenger for Conrad (and the fact that a Liffrig candidacy hasn't exactly been enthusiastically endorsed by state Republicans) I'm guess Mr. Anonymous Candidate will probably end up with the nomination.

Update:

Well, since Dakota Huseby is publishing the name of the candidate I might as well too. His name is Dwight Grotberg. I am told that he is 39 years old and a farmer from Sanford, ND with 7 children.

Conrad cruises to victory 72-27. There is no way that the Rs in ND would ever had endorsed Liffrig again.

Yeah, I saw that.  Guy sure knows how to bring home the pork to please the constituents.  Which, of course, makes his "budget hawk" pretense laughable.

No, Rob, he supports paygo, so his addons will have them paid for as opposed to the Rs who spend spend spend.

You mean the paygo system that would have made it harder to cut taxes?

Yeah, he’s wonderful.

No, Rob, the tax cuts would have to be paid for as well under pay go.  You can’t cut taxes without paying for them either.  That is what paygo does.  The Rs wanted to continue cutting taxes while spending spendign spending.  Paygo would have required them to be paid for as well.

Tax cuts don’t have to be paid for.  Every tax cut since the Kenned administration has increased tax receipts.

The Rs wanted to continue cutting taxes while spending spendign spending.

Just because Republicans keep spending is no reason to stop cutting taxes.  Since the Bush tax cuts tax receipts are up. Unfortunately, spending is up too.  That is the majority Republicans fault, though the Democrats screaming and crying about cuts hasn’t helped either (remember when you guys were all calling Cheney "the Grinch" for casting the deciding vote on those cuts in the Senate?).

What amazes me is that the evidence for tax cuts is right in front of your face, yet your blind politics won’t allow you to see it.
