North Dakota’s Higher Education Problem: A 76% Increase In Funding To Educate Just 17% More Students

This, my friends, is what insanity looks like (click for a larger view):

What you’re looking at (courtesy of state Rep. Blair Thoreson) is a roughly 76% increase in general fund appropriations to higher education (keep in mind, that doesn’t count tuition increases) to educate just a 17% increase in students.

At what point do we begin to ask…where has all this money gone?

And the answer is more administrators. Bigger salaries. More buildings. Private airplanes to fly university system elite hither and tither. Which is all well and good if you work in higher education, but it paints an ugly picture for the taxpayers.
