From The Left: Welcome To North Dakota Sean Hannity

0

Fox News TV Host and syndicated radio show host Sean Hannity will be visiting North Dakota today to headline the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Bismarck and will also reportedly tour the Bakken for his radio show.

I thought it would be fun to write an open letter to Mr. Hannity on this occasion.

Dear Mr. Hannity,

Welcome to North Dakota. I am glad the Oil Industry, which we all agree is making a boat load of money in North Dakota, has decided to pony up to bring the GOP’s very own number one cheerleader to ourn state. I am sure you are going to be surrounded during your visit by people who are going to be awe struck by your very presence, so I thought I would tell you a few things you are not likely to hear during your visit.

First off, remember a while back when you were interviewing the surfer bum Jason Greenslate? You promised him you could get him “a job that would pay $80,000 a year driving a truck in North Dakota?

When you are hanging out with your funders today, ask them if they pay $80,000 a year for unskilled employees. Let me help you out, they do not. The people who are making $80,000 a year or more driving truck are highly paid professionals who are working extraordinarily hard for their money. They deserve your respect.

If Mr. Greenslate was to move to North Dakota, he may be able to find a job, however, it would likely pay more like $15 per hour. That is if he could pass a drug test, something you and I both doubt he could do. For the $15 per hour job, he would have to pay for some of the most expensive housing in the United States. That is if he could even find housing, far from certain in the Bakken region.

Now while you are in our state, I am sure you will be sure to point out how our state is doing so well thanks to its great conservative leadership. I mean we all know that the dinosaur’s that died to put oil under the ground were big supporters of the Republican Party. Now, of course the state is way more conservative than I would like it to be, however, let me tell you a little secret. It is a lot less conservative than you will claim. We have a moderate Republican and a moderate Democrat who serve our state in the U.S. Senate. Our only house member Kevin Cramer has even taken a few votes that are good for North Dakota but bad for the conservative movement.

Our state House and Senate are controlled by a Republican super majority, however, they have resisted efforts to bankrupt our state coffers in order to reduce taxes. They tend to represent the hard work ethic and sensible thinking that made our state great. They unquestionably care about being fiscally responsible, and care very little about adhering to a strict political ideology. Heck, they even approved Medicaid expansion.

Finally, Oil is not the number one business in North Dakota. Agriculture has long been the number one industry in the state. The farmers and ranchers in our state are for the most part good people, and they are patriots. Unlike your onetime hero Cliven Bundy, if they owe money on land they rent, they pay their bill. Even if that rent is to the Federal government. The people who work in the Agriculture industry in North Dakota, unlike you, don’t need to wait for somebody like Bundy to make racist remarks before they disown them. They know that somebody who grazes cattle on land they don’t own, without paying for it, is guilty of theft. Unlike you, they would never make a political martyr out of the thief.

So enjoy your time in North Dakota, Mr. Hannity, however, please don’t stay too long.

Sincerely,

GameND
