North Dakota Democrats: Help Us Combat Money In Politics By Giving Us Money

Earlier this the US Supreme Court, holding once again that political contributions are a form of speech, struck down federal limits on aggregate campaign giving. Limits on campaign contributions to any one candidate are still in place, but overall limits on contributions to multiple candidates are now gone.

The left, which holds that political contributions are not speech, didn’t like the ruling. Here in North Dakota, though, Democrats used a curious venue to express their displeasure with the ruling. In a fundraising email party executive director Chad Oban encourages people to donate money to help combat the scourge of money in politics.

Not that there’s anything wrong with Democrats asking people to contribute to their party. But then, I’m the sort of person who believes that political contributions are speech.
