North Dakota: 23 Votes For Mitt Romney, 5 For Ron Paul

Here’s video of Governor Jack Dalrymple reading off North Dakota’s delegate votes at the Republican National Convention (click the image):

You’ll note that when the secretary reads back the vote count she only reads the Mitt Romney votes. That’s because, due to rule shenanigans, the Ron Paul votes weren’t being counted.

Keep in mind that in North Dakota, both Ron Paul and Rick Santorum beat Mitt Romney who finished third.

Obviously, Romney had more than enough delegates to take the nominaton, but there’s something fundamentally wrong with a process that won’t cast ballots from properly-seated delegates. I’m not really a fan of Ron Paul, but if those representing minority opinions within the party get the feeling that their voices don’t matter, they might just stop participating.

At which point the GOP will be a minority party nationally.
