No More Cap And Trade For McCain?

Interesting…

After writing favorably about Sen. McCain’s recent economics speeches, where he clearly shifted toward the supply-side both on tax cuts and producing more energy, I went back last evening and carefully read his 15-page policy pamphlet called “Jobs for America.” Here’s what I found: There is no mention of cap-and-trade. None. Nada. There is a section about “Cheap, Clean, Secure Energy for America: The Lexington Project.” But that talks about expanded domestic production of oil and gas, as well as the need for more nuclear power and coal along with alternative sources. Then it has the $300 million battery and flex-fuel cars. But nope, no cap-and-trade.

McCain’s support for cap-and-trade is a big reason why many conservatives aren’t supporting him. If he’s renounced those policies – which amount to little more than complete government control over American productivity – good for him.
Of course, much as with Obama’s flip-flops, there is a question of whether or not such campaign policy shifts can be believed. And McCain isn’t exactly out touting this shift in policy either, so it may well be a pipe dream. But it does make McCain look a bit more like an attractive candidate.
Update: Well, it was a nice thought while it lasted.

McCain has other energy plans that he only jokes about, so far.

Apparently, he had a top ten list of ways to kill Iranians on his website that was taken down. Hopefully someone will post it soon. Among his suggestions were, “Tell Christy Brinkley that the Iranians were cheating on her”, and “Send Iran lead-based hookah pipes from China”.

    This guy is certifiable.

Kudlow considers cap-n-trade to be a critical (and negative) part of McCain’s economic policy; McCain considers it part of his energy policy; in campaigns, these type of issues tend to sort themselves into silos, reasonably, and so it ought not surprise anyone that McCain’s focus on jobs and taxes doesn’t tilt too far into energy policy precincts.

Kudlow’s right, tax, cap and trade is a direct assault on the economy that will cause more damage than anything he manages to get through Congress.

After reading this on Kudlow’s site I would have considered voting for him.

However with him pushing the tax, cap and trade fraud there’s no way.

    We know McCain’s trajectory.

    We’ve known it for years.

If he tells you to calm down or he’s gotten the message, or just keeps quiet about some Far-Left or otherwise extremely-damaging position he has taken, just wait until after he’s elected.

It’ll come roaring right back again.

…. and you will have voted for it.

You Moderates cannot put enough lipstick on McCain to me vote for him. I know Bob Barr does not have a chance, but he has my vote. At least, I hope to help elect some sensible congressmen.

You can not believe any of his equivocating, he will say whatever his handlers tell him sounds good.
