No Change For Us, Please, We’re Republicans

You’d think that after two straight losing election cycles the Republicans might want to shake things up a bit.  Get some new leadership.  Fresh faces that could lead the party back to the core values that put the GOP in power in the first place.

If you thought those things you’d be wrong.

Ohio Rep. John A. Boehner will keep his post as Republican leader in the House despite a rocky finale leading up to the election.

Boehner easily beat back an eleventh-hour challenge by Rep. Dan Lungren, beating the California conservative. Lungren was basically there to offer a protest vote for conservatives who wanted a different leader after another rough election cycle for Republicans.

Eric Cantor was also elected as the whip on a voice vote, placing the up and coming conservative from Virginia in the no. 2 slot in GOP leadership.

Let’s hope Boehner will be better at stifling the liberal agenda of the majority Democrats - embolden by the election of Obama to the White House - than he was at pursuing a conservative agenda.
