Next Time, Reality Check Is Part Of The Prelims

Poor Johnny Weir.

If only he had spent as much time practicing his Triple Lutz as he has refining his political commentary, he would not have plummeted off of the medal stand in what can only be termed a spectacularly awful performance that subsituted creative hand gestures for actual technical skill. Alongside such heavyweights as Pleshenko--who actually landed quadruple-triple-double combinations and not the wussy Loops that Weir thought could sustain his previous marks--he looked downright, well, awful.

There was no one more qualified to represent America in the Mens finals, than a figure skater who describes himself as "princessy," once compared the performance to a "shot of vodka and a snort of coke" and refused to complete the short program without his beloved red glove, Camille, who in a stunning turn of events did not make an appearance in the long program (though we believe its not co-habitating with Michael Jacksons rhinestone number on auction on eBay). Mr. Pinky ring himself even has a MySpace which touts his amazing repertoire of Christina Aguilera music and poor fashion choices (post-Soviet kitch died around the time the Soviets themselves embraced McDonalds). Its like a car wreck: a perfect explosion of everything wrong with the world of figure skating that the sport is desperately trying to improve. If anyone has done wonders for the Case Against the Flamboyantly Artistic Yet Ridiculously Unathletic--and thats no commentary on his sexuality--its him (with Dick Button in a close second).

Hes just bad at skating, that's all, which was evidenced by his disappointing fifth place finish. At this point, we're betting that he's going to need a day job, and we hear Katie's Today Show gig is opening up. He's already proven his moonbat worth; the only thing more weenie than Johnnys skating is his toe of the company line:

Interviewed on CBS' Early Show this morning, Weir explained that he knew he asn't at his best on the day of the long program, and in particular wasn't "feeling pretty." Then, waxing philosophical, he noted that things aren't always perfect. If they were, Michelle Kwan would be skating, and "we wouldn't be in Iraq."

Nice. But thats only unnecessary quip he's issued recently.

"I know that a lot of people, especially the more Republican-style people, are very afraid of what I mean to the sport and what I’m going to say, what kind of revolutionary, crazy things are going to come out of my mouth. And good for them. They should be scared."

Afraid of what he means to the sport? Its figure skating. By now, we've all long since accepted that there is a certain inherent gay-ness (though his MySpace claims differently). We don't even ask anymore because frankly, we don't care; it was "revolutionary" with Rudy Galindo, by now, Johnny Weir is just a throwback to a theory that, oddly enough, has never proven a successful distraction from the actual skating part of the competition. The most decorated figure skaters have been far more concerned with their technical performance over their costume.

Do what you want on your own time, Johnny, just don't waste our tax dollars applying Bumble and Bumble to your, and soaking up the GLAAD memos, instead of landing a Quad.

As far as I’m concerned, no self-respecting Republican would even watch figure skating, let alone give one of its apparent "princessy" stars with a Commie fetish the time of day.

I mean...girls nancying about on the ice in tight clothes is one thing.  But guys?  Give me a break.

...because there are no self-respecting Republican in your "big tent" would ever admit to being gay, right Rob?

While they’ll never admit it, I’ll bet there’s more Republicans than just Ken Mehlman, David Drier and  Jim Guckert that catch as much figure skating action as they can during commercial breaks of JAG re-runs!

Mcair, unlike you (who has attempted to slam people on this site by calling them gay) I have no problem with homosexuals.  I’m related to several and love them dearly.  I even support gay marriage, if you can imagine that.

I was just responding to Weir’s absurd comments with a bit of absurd humor.  Of course some Republicans probably enjoy mens figure skating.  I’m not one of them, but whatever.

You must have me confused with someone else. Since you’re now accusing me, show me the post where I have slammed anyone as gay. I’m a liberal - we could care less about a persons sexual orientation.

On the other hand, I don’t have to tell you that you are in a distinct minority within the Republican party that doesn’t openly abhor gay people.

You support gay marriage? Good for you. Would you tell the rest of the dumb fucks in your party that two guys getting married doesn’t make their marriage any less sound? Thanks.

Mcair, since you’re an oh-so-sensitive liberal I suppose you were using the word "gay" as meaning "happy" when you made this comment.

As for Republicans abhoring gays, I’m not sure that’s entirely accurate.  Most of the Republicans I know are fairly ambivalent toward gay marriage, they just don’t want to see our Constitution tossed aside to appease gay activists.

Which isn’t to deny that there are some fools on the right who hate gays, but then there are idiots on both sides of the aisle.  That hardly proves your point.

I don’t give a crap who he sleeps with: he needs to get his skating act together, improve his technical performance, and stop wasting time making political statments.

Of course liberals care about sexual orientation. If it weren’t about separating people out by identifiable differences, liberals would have nothing to talk about. Heaven forbid anyone be judged by their merits in the liberal community. Everyone is a representative of an oppressed minority, good only for the numbers. And last I checked, no one was defined by a single characteristic, let alone defining oneself by who one sleeps with being a fairly superficial way to identify oneself.

I agree with Rob, and I’m in the courtroom defending the Constitution day in and day out: you want gay marriage? Vote for it. Do it the democratic way. The Constitution doesn’t need to be perverted to appease any special interest groups, let alone for a social fad.

Ah, I get it! Did you read the post that occurs immediately prior to mine? Who is calling who gay? The guy you left in charge while you were away - I merely called him on his BS.

As far as the constitution is concerned, there is no provision that would prevent gay marriage. None. All the talk has been about introducing an amendment to make it illegal - and that push is coming from your side. Interesting that you mention this within hours of castigating a poster for challenging the "connection between AQ and Saddam" that you guys are no doubt praying becomes an election issue once again, since no doubt we’ll also soon be hearing the "gay marriage amendment" drums being banged hard by the so-called Christian right.

Now that you’ve made your position on gay marriage known, I look forward to your posts that condemn GOP’s ongoing marginalization of the gay community as cheap political posturing.

Weir’s skating is definately sub-par. On the ice your political opinion is not relevent whether your figure skating or playing hockey. And speaking of sub-par, God did the American Hockey team blow yesterday. Whats up with that?

You tried to insult him by calling him gay.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, mcair.

Gay marriage is a constitutional issue in that the gay rights proponents are trying to use the 14th amendment to make it legal.  They’re wrong.

I generally support states rights in this.  If the voters in a state decide that gay marriage should be legal, it will hopefull be made legal by their elected representatives.  And vice versa.

Another useless subject. Find something more important to debate about.

Poor fellow.  Any decent skater knows you can’t perform at your best without getting a nice rim-job beforehand...  I guess his big mouth and sanctimonious claptrap scared away all the groupies before his big event.

LOL, what a maroon.  Yes, all of us homophobic republicans are just quivering in our (real cowboy, not pink rhinestoned) boots over what an outspoken figure skater will do to society!  The Horrors!
