Newt Gingrich To Chris Matthews: What Kind Of A Racist Assumes Food Stamp Recipients Are Black?
Earlier this morning MSNBC’s Chris Matthews accused RNC Chairman Reince Priebus of racism in making entitlements an issue with Barack Obama.
Later in the day, Newt Gingrich pointed out that most food stamp recipients are actually white (not that it really matters), and wondered what kind of racist thinking is leading Matthews to assume that food stamp recipients are black:
Here’s a thought: Maybe entitlement programs are a legitimate area for public debate because they are very controversial areas of public policy that absorb significant amounts of our tax dollars?
Of course, that would assume that people like Matthews are interested in actually debating these issues instead of distracting by making accusations of racism.
