Children's deaths in hot cars preventable

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — It's a scenario that's tragically repeated dozens of times a year: a parent places a toddler in the back seat of a vehicle and later becomes distracted, leaving the child inside to swelter on a hot day.

"Every single one of these deaths is totally preventable — if the car had been locked, if you hadn't forgotten the child," Null said.

"Even the best parents make these sorts of mistakes."

Where’s Hillary on this issue?

At the President’s swearing in ceremony Mrs Clinton instructed the Secret Service that no matter how good a fort he had built, no matter what Executive Order or signing station he issued, President Bush was not to be allowed under any circumstances to take his afternoon nap in the presidential limousine.

She also informed the Service that the 25th amendment does not authorize the ascendancy of the Vice President when the President is napping and unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.

“Don’t listen to that Dick” she said, and don’t let him hold the limo keys.

“Even the best parents make these sorts of mistakes.”

What, forget that they have kids for hours on end? The hell they do.

Now Seth, leaving your child in the back seat to die doesn’t make you a bad parent.

For we musn’t make value judgements about bad parents.

Besides, bad parents are Republicans.

Silly me, pass the kool-aide.

Wouldn’t doing something like this preclude someone from being considered ‘best parents?’

Like, duh?

I am with Seth - responsible parents simply do not do these things.

Unfortunately, one day the driver forgot to wake him up and left him in to bake away the rest of the sunny afternoon.  Since no one in the White House missed him during the workday what with him being away so often (etc.), the damage was done by the time Mrs. Bush asked why he wasn’t at dinner.

Apparently Diane tends to lock herself in her car on a regular basis. Judging by the fact that every post she makes reeks of brain fry that would explain it. Or maybe she made herself that way by staring at the sun all day one day. Of course you couldn’t be too smart to do that anyway. Thus explains the left.

Judging from what I have seen in my local area, if some of the family’s kids were cats or dogs the Humane Society would file a complaint against them.
For many of them “quality time” with their kids is taking them down to McDonald’s a few times a week to load up on lard. Then a quick trip to the video store for movies and games so the little porkers will camp out on the couch all weekend and leave them alone.
Forgot they locked them in the car? Hell, a lot of parents forgot about them shortly after they were born.

Got to say I am in at least partial agreement on this. I see people, in all social strata, who should not have children or domestic animals in their charge.
