New York Times Corrects Itself On Palins Relationship With Alaska Independence Party

Whoops…

The chairwoman of an Alaskan political party that advocates a vote on the state’s secession from the union said Tuesday that she had been mistaken when she said Gov. Sarah Palin was a member of the group.
A front-page story in The New York Times on Tuesday and articles in other news media reported that Ms. Palin was a member of the Alaska Independence Party for two years in the 1990’s.
The information in the Times article was based on a statement issued Monday night by Lynette Clark, the party’s chairwoman, who said that Ms. Palin joined the party in 1994 and in 1996 changed her registration to Republican.
On Tuesday night, Ms. Clark said that her initial statement was incorrect and had been based on erroneous information provided by another member of the party whom she declined to identify.

Here’s a link to the original story.
Without the quote from Clark there pretty much was no story.

Is Obama still going to see George Clooney in Switzerland?

Did Obama still sit in a racist church for twenty years? Did he still have a Marxist revolutionary for a political mentor?

When are you lefties going to tell the truth about those facts?

What do you mean, “what page”? It won’t be printed on any page.

Rule #4: GOP-bashing hit pieces, regardless of accuracy, go on Page 1. Corrections get posted on the blog, so they can get scooted down the page as quickly as possible by subsequent posts.

They get away with this crap all the time.
Put this stuff out there, knowing it’s lies and not really caring.
I personally find it seriously Libelous to try derailing someones career this way.
The Times should be held to account.

It would be interesting to see what page they actually put this retraction on. Probably a place that no one would see it on. Burried in the back probably.

AT least they correct themselves when they are wrong, unlike this blog.

    Hawk screeches:

Yes, we have had quite a difficult time getting “blackwater”boob, sparkless-arse-fuckin-buckle, and eunuchized to admit error and post corrections. You should probably talk to them about that…

  • Well Hung Chad

    Wha??

The NYT printed an inaccurate hit piece?

    That’s CRAZY!! talk.

    Jerry,

The Tired Gray Crone is (slowly and painfully) being held to account. Their circulation and stock price are both circling the bowl.
