New York Times Brings John McCain’s Son Into The Political Race And Puts Him In Jeopardy

Despite McCain’s requests to the contrary for the safety of his son who is currently stationed in Iraq.

Comments

What a class act the NYT has become.  All the news that’s fit to print, plus food for our enemies.

BASTARDS!

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

Rob: Thanks for highlighting my post. I deeply resent the MSM and NYT subtle shots at McCain, via his son and stuff like the Vicki Isenim farce.

Imagine the outcry from the liberal left if World Net Daily did a piece on Chelsea Clinton’s sex life.  (Pun intended.)

Liberals are such hypocrites!

The NYT disgusts me.  The liberal press had no problem obeying the Clinton’s when little Billy said that Chelsey was off limits to the press.  There clear liberal bias is completely see through.

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

Sean Hannity brought up his son as well last month in an interview with McCain.  I’ll be waiting for the condemnation of Hannity.

Puzzlefeet on April 6, 2008 at 01:42 pm

If Hannity did that, then he’s no better than the NYT.  There… feel better?

Puzzle,

Perhaps you’ll be good enough to provide a citation for Hannity’s “bringing up” McCain’s son.  It might be interesting to see whether Sean’s “inquiry” was as worthy of condemnation as is the New York Times.

Since you brought up Hannity’s question, surely you can provide a more detailed description and full context, can’t you?

Just read the article. What the hell is the problem? That the NYT is mystified that McC is not using his son as a campaign prop, like the Clintons pimping Webster Hubble’s daughter? Other than that I don’t see what all the rhubarb is about.

Did Hannity report where they’re serving?  Or the specific details of their service?

In answer to your question Rob, there is no way all those Marines in his platoon would have talked to the NYTimes if not sanctioned by the Marine Corp.  Also, McCain’s son has been on the campaign trail with his Dad.  If you have an issue here, take it up with the Marine Corp. They allowed these Marines to speak to the NY Times.

Puzzlefeet:  From your link:

McCain declined to discuss Pvt. Jimmy McCain, the senator’s 18 year old son…

Yes, pparets, that is correct, but it was Hannity that brought it up.  The Marine Corps obviously let the Marines in his platoon be interviewed for the article.  So take up your beef with the Marines.  And his son was out on the campaign trail with McCain as well.

Puzzlefeet on April 6, 2008 at 06:38 pm

Puzzlefeet:

The Marine Corps obviously let the marines in his platoon be interviewed.

Obviously?? On what basis did you come to that conclusion?  Because you needed it to support your thesis?

How obviously would the Corps allow marines to reveal information about a fellow soldier and the son of a Senator?

Sorry.  I don’t think your claim holds up. I will believe it when you prove it.

The Marines have to treat every Marine equally.  No special treatment for the Senator’s son.

Because if they did give the Senator’s son special treatment, you know what the reaction from the times would be.

Just because the Times could do this article, doesn’t mean they should have.

Rob, I didn’t claim the Marines gave McCain’s son special treatment.  What I am saying is that the Marine Corp knew that the Marines were being interviewed for the article.
Pparets,Are you telling me that the Marines didn’t know that they soldiers were being interviewed.  Are you telling me that his fellow soldiers would knowingly put a fellow soldier in danger by speaking to the NY Times?  Is that what you are saying, Pparets?

From what I know about the Marines, that just would not happen ever. Another Marine would not knowingly talk about a fellow marine to the NY Times no less if not sanctioned by the Marine Corp.

Puzzle,

Apparently, what you know about the Marines isn’t worth the postage stamp it’d take to write it all on.  For starters… Marines are NOT soldiers.  They are Marines.  The Army has soldiers.

If you can’t even get that basic piece of information right, there’s little chance that any of the rest of your speculation has any validity.

Perhaps if you got over the silly, liberal, notion that if the NYT prints it, it must be valid...?

Puzzlefoot: I’m not saying anything. I asked you to prove that Marines were interviewed by the NYT or that the Corps permitted them to. Can’t you read ??

Gang, I have read this article twice, the only problem with it I see is the NYT “journalist” is pissed off because McC is not abusing his children as campaign props, the way the Clintons are pimping Webster Hubble’s daughter.

So, exactly what is the deal? McC himself announced that James McCain had successfully completed USMC Basic Training and told the world he would serve as assigned by the DoD. I still don’t see the problem.

And puzz, why don’t you just ask the Corps. They have a policy of telling the public what information and which personnel is open for release to the press. Happened back in ‘74. You may have heard of it.

Just for you B1: http://www.angelfire.com/ca/dickg/soldier.html

2h9, I agree with you, there is no big deal.

Pparets, the Marines/soldiers’ names were used with actual quotes, therefore they must have interviewed. Natural implication.

Kenny, just for you:  http://bluestarchronicles.com/2008/03/14/sean-hannity-interviewed-senator-john-mccain-video/ You can google the entire hour long interview.

You posted the link to the thread, what does it prove? Other than idiots with computers, digital cameras, and handguns make goofy flashvids for avatars.

In other words, in an interview with Sean Hannity which took place three weeks before the NYT piece, Senator McCain said that he is enormously proud of both his sons serving in the military but asked that details of their service not be subject of political journalism.

Hannity obliged, acceding to the Senator’s wishes… while the New York Times ignored the request.  Just as I suspected.  Liberals are such a classless bunch!
