New Swiftboat Veterans Ad

The Swiftboat Veterans have a new ad out. Its one of their best.

You can view it here.

This one has the wives of Vietnam POW's recounting their feelings about Kerry's anti-war activities after returning home from the war. Its very effective in my opinion.

Ever since the Swifboat Veterans switched focus from Kerry's medals and actual service to his anti-war activities upon returning home you haven't heard much in the press about it. Probably because Kerry cannot deny that he was an anti-war radical in the 70's.

I really wish the Swiftboat Veterans had focused on this issue to begin with.

I thought you were the one who said what Bush and Kerry did 30+ years ago did not matter?

Let me clear up my stance here.  I don’t think that Kerry of Bush’s military service from 30 years ago is germaine to this race.  Both men received an honorable discharge.  I think that the Swift Vets have made some excellent points about Kerry’s service that haven’t been debunked, but I wouldn’t base my vote on any of that.

What Kerry did after returning home from the war (meeting with N. Vietnamese officials, disparaging his fellow soldiers in front of congress) is very germaine to this election.  It speaks to his character and how he handles himself in a political setting.  His anti-war activities from 30 years ago are just as important as his actions as a Lt. Governor and Congressmen from 20 years ago.

The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.
