New Poll: Racism From Democrats May Cost Obama The Election

Now, whod’a thunk it?
I mean, aren’t the Republicans supposed to be the bitter, clinging types who would be more inclined to vote against a black candidate just because of his color? Well, not according to this AP/Yahoo poll:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks — many calling them “lazy,” “violent,” responsible for their own troubles.
The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004 — about two and one-half percentage points.

Wait….say that again:

More than a third of all white Democrats and independents — voters Obama can’t win the White House without — agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don’t have such views.

Well, slap my face and call me Sally. That’s what I thought they said, but I really want some clarification:

The findings suggest that Obama’s problem is close to home — among his fellow Democrats, particularly non-Hispanic white voters. Just seven in 10 people who call themselves Democrats support Obama, compared to the 85 percent of self-identified Republicans who back McCain.

And, according to this poll (note that it’s from the Associated Press in conjunction with Yahoo – so I hardly think it’s inclined to give conservatives a break just to be nice) just where are all those mean ol’ conservatives on the racial issuse?

Lots of Republicans harbor prejudices, too, but the survey found they weren’t voting against Obama because of his race. Most Republicans wouldn’t vote for any Democrat for president — white, black or brown.

So, to sum it up, if the election is lost it may be because of racism, but a racism that comes from the Democratic side of the ticket and not the Republican side. Keep in mind that this poll was done at Stanford University. I’ll bet those researchers heads are exploding over this one.
Or maybe not. Just finding racism at all may have been enough for them.

Dougee, perhaps you can explain the abject absence of presence of minorities in the republican party. that the republican has not had to face its racism yet is not proof of an absence of racisim in the republican party.

It was Obama’s racist pastors that called America the U.S. of K.K.K.,

So what? It was the USA that produced the KKK and screwed the black man for far, far, far to long. Get over it pussy.

Yours is also the party that raised the question if Obama was black enough.

Yours is the party that threatened to assassinate him. See, I can attribute stupid shit people say and do to your party as well.

It was Jesse Jackson who said that he wanted to cut Obama’s nuts off because he was talking down to “niggers”.

And? What is your point? That Obama is racist against blacks? Is he racist against blacks or whites? Make up your mind.

  • Hannitized

.get someone to read the article to you. Maybe then you’ll get what it says.

I’ll read it for him. It says that Republicans don’t admit to racism. Gee, imagine that? Go to prison and ask those serving time if they were guilty, then tell me that it means they were jailed on false pretenses. Oh, you won’t do that, will you Pilgrim.

The article also doesn’t say that Republicans would vote for a black candidate.

Our party is so racist, that we nominated the first black candidate. Chew on that for a while Pilgrim, then get back to me.

Racism lives and breaths in the Democrat Party. Every law stripping freed slaves of their rights was passed by Democrats. Poll taxes? Democrats. Jim Crowe? Democrats. Equal Rights Amendment? Repuclicans. Ending slavery? Republicans. Blocking Negroes from schools and jobs? Democrats. Taxing their farms. homes, and businesses at confiscatory rates? Democrats.

Yes, be proud Democrats. You have all of American history to condemn you.

The presumption inherent to this poll and the mediaswine interpretation is that Obama should be winning. Amazing.

The better question for people who are still able to engage in critical thinking is: Why would Democrats nominate an inexperienced, shallow, Chicago hack pol, who has tolerated corruption, lies about everything and been funded by slumlords?

  • Frank Smithson

This AP article shows the survey results in a graph, and it clearly demonstrates that white Republicans have poorer opinions than white Democrats (or whites in general). The assertion of the article is that the values of white Democrats and independents on the adjectives with negative connotation are non-zero, not that they are larger than Republican values.

Republicans are socialists when they want us to pick up the tab for their greed. The republicans are capitalists when it comes to their profits but become rabid socialist when it comes to their losses. Then they believe in socialism to fix their greed.

Socialism: a political theory or system in which the means of production and distribution are controlled by the people and operated according to equity and fairness rather than market principles.

Hardly a fit for Republicans! I do think they are in a tight situation here: It is wrong to bail out these greedy corporations and stupid home owners; but the alternative would have been a much greater economic crisis with a devastating impact on all segments of society. I think it was the best of two only possible solutions.

The reason Obama isn’t pulling away in the polls because he is a rookie that can’t close the deal, just like in the primaries. He says one thing in front of middle class voters and a completely different thing when he is with his San Fran elitest lib supporters (clinger comment).

Obama went overseas and criticized his own country and then to Irag to try to convince Iraqi officials to hold off setting a deal for U.S. troops to come home.

People hear those things and question if Obama shares their values and not if he is black.

  • http://insanereindeer.blogspot.com/ Kenny

That’s assinine. Ask a bunch of children in detention if they did anything wrong. Most of them will say no. Guilty people deny guilt. It’s hardly an indictment of the system. If we released everyone who denied guilt, we’d have three people in our prison systems.

  • http://views-from-right.blogspot.com/ subbob

This is not a big surprise, but I take significant umbrage at the use of the term “bigot” in the article.

When the blacks start thinking of themselves as Americans and NOT “African-Americans”, when they stop feeling sorry for themselves because of their DNA, then perhaps the rest of us will not judge them based upon that same criteria.

Another recent poll showed just how racist blacks are. When 93% to 95% of blacks are supporting Obama in ALL categories, when they say with a 90%+ rating that he’s more qualified than McCain, who’s the racist?

A recent poll in New York provides some interesting data.

    Poll – Siena Research Institute

You have to dig into the cross-tabulated data to find this information.

Take the question on qualification, “For each of the following people, tell me whether you think that person is very qualified, somewhat qualified, somewhat unqualified, or very unqualified to be president.”

    McCain – Total Qualified: 79% – Total Unqualified: 17%

    Obama – Total Qualified: 67% – Total Unqualified: 30%

Now, the crosstabs gives the breakdown by race.

Each candidate was rated as Very Qualified, Somewhat Qualified, Somewhat Unqualified, Very Unqualified and Don’t Know/Refused.

    African Americans/Blacks

    McCain – Qualified: 46% (8%/38%) – Unqualified: 43% (23%/20%)

    Obama – Qualified: 96% (66%/30%) – Unqualified: 2% (0%/2%)

    Whites

    McCain – Qualified: 87% (51%/36%) – Unqualified: 12% (7%/5%)

    Obama – Qualified: 62% (26%/36%) – Unqualified: 35% (14%/21%)

Now, if we stopped there one can already see a significant anomaly. Which ethnicity is “racist”? But there’s even something more dramatic.

This question started with: “Now I’m going to read you a list of attributes that voters often look at when deciding which presidential candidate to vote for and I’d like you to tell me which of the two candidates — John McCain or Barack Obama — you think more fully embodies that attribute.”

On the Experience attribute, the response was as follows:

    African Americans/Black

    John McCain: 37%
    Barack Obama: 42%

So, there was only a small (5%) difference when they were asked to rate the experience attribute, yet they rate McCain as unqualified 43% to Obama’s 2%.

Furthermore, they rated John McCain 3% on the Integrity attribute, 3% on Intelligence and 7% on leadership.

Better yet, on Patriotism – John McCain 23%, Barack Obama 51%.

The ONLY subgroup (by gender, by party, by age group or race) that rated Obama’s patriotism above McCains. Even those self-identified as Democrats rated McCain 44% to Obama 31% on Patriotism.

So, again I ask, who are the true racists in this situation?

  • Wing Chun Geologist

Dougee, perhaps you can explain the abject absence of presence of minorities in the republican party.

Because every time a minority conservative is put forward, the progressives do their best to completely and thuroughly destroy that person. Look what they did to Justice Thomas.

Bush had several minority judicial appointments who where Borked by Biden and the usual cast of Democrat brownshirts.

  • pparets

I agree with that; keep in mind that when the staff at Stanford or any other major University goes to the crapper, they always wipe their ass with their left hand.
