New ND Quarter Design

ND NEWS

As some of you already know, North Dakota is in the process of choosing a design for our state quarter. Here are the 2 finalists:

I'm not too excited about either, though I'd vote for the Buffalo design if I had a gun to my head.

Here is Conan O'Brien's idea of what the ND state quarter should look like....

And South Dakota's.....

Funny stuff. Maybe the latest version could be a drunk ice fisherman or even better---a meth lab. Who wouldn't love to see a meth lab on the back of the North Dakota state quarter. Any other ideas???

Canadian Geese on an American coin?
Guess you will be Buffaloed.

Last week I got lucky and got a Canadian quarter in my change.

I’m still liking the one with Maris on it.

The geese are still better than the buffalo.  I have no problem with buffalo, but they are already prominent in American coinage, including on the new nickel.

O’Brian is a funny dude, even if that nickel design is wrong.

I like the buffulo design.  But I don’t think North Dakotans should pick that design because Kansas already is using the buffalo on their quarter.  I think ND should try to be more original and not have our quarter confused with another state’s quarter.

I agree Jen.  For a little while people talked about putting Roger Maris on the quarter.  I would have gone with that.  It certainly wouldn’t have been as bland as these other choices.
