Neighbors

On the eve of tomorrow’s promised illegal nationwide street festival, here is the very sensible opinion of Joe Mariani at Guardian’s Watch Blog:

Imagine waking up to find your neighbor sitting on your couch, watching your TV, and calmly smoking a cigarette. He explains that since you have a nicer house than he does, as well as cable tv, he decided to enter through an unlocked window. As he puts his clothes in your closet and his decorations on your wall, the neighbor explains that he has a right to seek a better life and better things for himself. The fact that it's your house doesn't seem to bother him. When you call for help, the police explain that you must simply accept this new addition to your household. He's already moved in, and it would be too much trouble to make him leave. After all, he cleans up after himself and takes out the garbage. Oh, and don't lock that window -- it wouldn't be fair to your other neighbors to start doing so now.

This is the position in which we Americans find ourselves. We're frustrated and angry that those responsible for upholding our laws are ignoring them in a mad scramble for votes…

Enforce the law. Uphold the Constitution. This is what we pay taxes for. We have the right to a reasonable expectation that all will be treated equally before the law. When some people receive special treatment, when the laws are overturned or ignored to suit certain groups, we lose faith in our system and respect for the officials we elected to positions of power. In a time of such turmoil, with our country fighting terrorists and opposing rogue regimes around the globe, can our government really afford to throw away the confidence of its citizens to appease a mob of lawbreaking foreigners?

Having lived in Southern California for most of my life, I am quite familiar with this scenario.  The probable solution is to throw out all the politicians who support this kind of crap, and elect new ones until they give us what we want.

I agree with Robert.  The politicos who are in favor of amnesty are making a mockery of the very country they have been elected to serve!

I’m tired of listening to illegal immigrant sob-stories.  I’m tired of CNN and other media outlets calling these protests, "Immigrant protests" completely ignoring the criminality involved with how these people got here.  Our country can survive without them.

These "protests" (of course, the idea that these idiots can protest anything is outrageous given their inherent criminal status) will only serve to put more law-abiding citizens in the anti-illegal immigration camp.

Yep vote em out.......But we won’t our precious parties might suffer.

I was talking wtht somebody this weekend who said "how would we round all of the illegals up? It is just not possible". My response "one at a time, they do not seem to be to secretive about there whereabouts".

This attitude totally slays me. We can’t catch them all so why try. The easy answer for the same reason we put other criminals in jail, we can not catch them all either but turning a blind eye definitely is not the solution.

Richard,

If you stop and think about it, that sort of "we can’t do it" attitude is as common on the left as latent hypocrisy or Che Guevera T-shirts.

When Ronald Reagan first mentioned the idea of SDI the left pratically peed all over themselves in horror.  Two weeks ago the Israelis announced a succesful joint project with the US that generates a force field which protects tank, APC’s, helicopters, and one assumes fighter jets.  The Navy’s Aegis system is also a result of the initial SDI research, as are several other such projects not yet released to the public.

If the history of this country proves anything, it is that there is truly no limit to what free men and women can accomplish if they set their mind to it.

Deporting 12 million illegal aliens is certainly a formidable task, but if we were to deport half that number, I wonder what the other half would do?

Bat: If we aggressively went after and deported even 10% of the illegals, they would be stampeding to the border to get out of here, IMO.  The fence is also a great idea.  When you go into a Hispanic neighborhood, the first thing you notice is all the fences around front yards.  It’s a cultural difference.  A fence on the border makes a much more powerful statement to those who would invade our country than you might think.  They respect a boundary when it’s a fence.

The tough thing to accomplish is securing the borders.  Once we make it so they can’t get in, enforcement will over time be very successful.

1.  Currently we expect employers and employers alone to do our policing.  OK fine they can help.  Let’s give them some tools.   Those that want to hire the illegals are criminals also.  Throw them over the wall with their employees.

2.  Everytime a person get’s their ID checked they should be verified legal or illegal.

Between those two actions the problem will take care of themselves.

Amnesty, you bet.  If someone turns themselves in they can apply to come back with no black mark on their record for being here illegally.

Robert108,

Absolutely!  It is sheer self-delusional nonsense to think about addressing the illegal alien/immigration problem without FIRST securing the border.

Moreover, I’m pretty sure that an immigration reform package that includes some sort of "guest worker" program in it, as well as some sort of earned amnesty would be a much easier sale for the administration, once they have FIRST demonstrated a serious comittment to border security.

Absent that, they merely pissing into the wind… to borrow from that great wordsmith, LBJ.

Only if they go to the end of the line.

Enforce the law that is already on the books concerning immigration. Uphold OUR rights as outlined and put forward by The Constitution. What fanciful concepts.  As for the "neighbor" sitting in my house, out the door they go, if they resist or are stealing they get a 168gr jacketed hollowpoint and a free ride to the morgue. Or perhaps they go through the wisperchipper and we forget they ever exsisted.

From the contents of my email inbox, this thread is deathly ill. So here is an entry on topic, here in west PA 4 days ago a young lady discovered her 2 male neighbors had invited themselves into her home. They helped themselves to her multiple sclerosis medications, her money and bankcard, beat her, sodomized her and then told her not to say anything about it or they would be back. She immediately called the State Police and they immediately arrested them, one block away, trying to sell her prescriptions on the street corner. The question I have is, why should these morons not be shot dead and thrown in a dumpster?

Because dumping the bodies in a dumpster would present a health risk. It is better to shoot the morons dead and then present the garbage to the proper authorities for safe disposal.

As long as they go to the landfill within 24 hours it would not be a problem. Then again, there is always the whisperchipper.

I prefer the notion of "let the punishment fit the crime".  In this case the guys should have been sodomized before being shot, then their family sued for the cost of burial.

Spam? Uh..not counting the trolls...let’s just say that it is a good bit. I don’t want to give out too much info, lest the spammers get an accurate idea of how much work they hoist upon us. The whole issue just irritates me and I’d rather not take the chance of letting a scumbag spammer know how successful they are.

Some bright young mind needs to develop an electronic Claymore, or Sidewinder. A program to follows spammers back to source and fry their entire system. All the genius running around the IT industry today it could be done.
