NDSU President Spent Over $20,000 Of School Money Attending Obama Inauguration

Joseph Chapman spent more than $22,000 in donations to North Dakota State University to take his family to President Barack Obama’s inauguration in January.
Meanwhile, UND President Robert Kelley spent about $2,000 in hotels and airfare for a similar trip to the inauguration.
Chapman spent nearly $4,300 for three nights at the Embassy Suites in Washington, foundation documents show. The charges were for two rooms.
Of the $17,420 charge for the plane, $10,495 was for the flight itself, Amundson said. The other charges were for pilot fees, meals, parking and other fees.
If the Chapmans had taken the NDSU plane, the flight would have cost $6,732, plus the cost of lodging and meals for the flight crew, she said.
This is just unbelievable. What’s really scary is that the money being scrutinized is only what’s coming out of the foundation. Surely he has control over state money as well. We need an audit of that.
Some other items that Chapman has been spending NDSU Foundation money in addition to the $50,000 that his wife is paid for being seen are just as out of line.
$20,000 for a box at the Fargo Redhawks games.
$66,000 for the NDSU plane (I think it’s a cropduster). That would be in addition to the chartered plane he took to the Obama event. He went to athletic events and parties with it.
$38,500 on Chapman’s credit card. Yes that’s right. He charged it, the University Foundation paid it.
In addition to the box at the Redhawks games it cost the NDSU foundation $16,500 in catering.
And of course Chapman got his country club dues paid. They also paid for the vice president’s dues as well.
It’s a wonder with all of the travel and spending Joe had to do if he got any work done.
Shouldn’t the NDSU Foundation be concerned about the students rather than showering the President with favors?
