ND Republicans Invite Democrat Congressional Candidates To Join Their Party

The NDGOP is having some fun at the expense of Heidi Heitkamp and Pam Gulleson today. Heitkamp, specifically, put on her best Sarah Palin routine and now the Republicans want both Heitkamp and Gulleson to join the party.

Here’s a press release sent out by the NDGOP:

Bismarck, N.D. – North Dakota Republican Party Chairman Stan Stein today extended an offer to Democratic US Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp and Democratic US House candidate Pam Gulleson to officially join the Republican Party.

“It is obvious after today’s North Dakota Broadcasters Association debates that Heitkamp and Gulleson are attempting to hide their support of Barack Obama and Washington’s failed Democratic leadership and pretend to be Republicans,” said Stein. “It’s disappointing that this election-year conversion is just a ploy for Heitkamp and Gulleson to cover their support of the Obama-Reid-Pelosi liberal agenda. However, in case they do have an honest change of heart, I want to extend Heitkamp and Gulleson a free membership to the North Dakota Republican Party.”

They even printed up membership cards!

The party also put out this parody of Heidi Heitkamp writing a letter to her good friend and supporter Harry Reid:

What kind of woman would vote Republican? Some oppressed fundamentalist? The second or third wife of a Mormon? The Republican have a big problem with women and Heidi appeals to women. Unless there are a lot of really stupid women in North Dakota Berg has big problem.

How is the convention going? You are a delegate aren’t you?

This is offensive, disgusting and demeaning to women. I am a Republican woman and I an not oppressed nor am I stupid. I think for myself and I am free to express myself. Never in my life have I been oppressed and no one in my very wide circle of friends has been either. I believe sir, that you are ignorant and oppressive.

Not taking this personally, but as a woman, I’m going to disagree with you. Pretty sure I’m none of those things, and I’ll support Berg over Heitkamp any day. Why would any woman want to vote to tax herself and her family into oblivion in the hopes of some big government payoff? Because that’s all the dems have to offer – entitlement program handouts. Entitlement programs are DESIGNED to get as many people into the system and to keep them there. They are DESIGNED to cultivate a people dependant on others. I don’t want that for myself, my family, my friends, or the lady down the street. Unless there are a lot of really blind-to-the-truth voters, Heidkamp has a big problem. We need less government and more personal responsibility. Berg for Senate!

I hate that law. What does it matter if I have a bunch of wives or just sleep with a bunch of women?

That is correct. Although polygamy was practiced by many Mormons in the past, the heierarchy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued an edict in 1890, ending the practice.

The public practice of polygamy within the Church was terminated in 1890 by the Manifesto issued by church President Willford Woodruff in which he publicly declared “that my advice to the Latter-day Saints is to refrain from contracting any marriages forbidden by the law of the land.”

On Jan. 4, 1896, Utah was admitted as the 45th state of the Union. As a condition of admitting Utah into the Union as a state, my understanding from reading history was that Congress insisted that Utah ban polygamy. It was during this time that Mr. Woodruff issued the manifesto which banned polygamy within the Mormon Church.

Today, all of the 14 million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons) are strictly monogamist, and members who are known to practice polygamy are excommunicated

So, women who don’t agree with you or Heidi Heitkamp are stupid?

I guess I’ve always thought women are capable of being individuals and thinking for themselves. The women I know and love are, anyway.

What a low opinion you must have of women in general.

      • Bat One

The low opinion is of himself… and it is fully justified.

Now this is way too funny. Funny if it weren’t so sad. Pam Gulleson and Heidi Heitkamp are among the staunchest Democrats around. However, it’s so funny watching themselves trip over each other and see who runs the fastest away from Barack Obama. The people of North Dakota know better, ladies!!
