SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) – A government-sponsored “public option” for health care lives, though it may be more attractive to skeptics if it goes by a different moniker, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday.
In an appearance at a Florida senior center, the Democratic leader referred to the so-called public option as “the consumer option.” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., appeared by Pelosi’s side and used the term “competitive option.”
Both suggested new terminology might get them past any lingering doubts among the public—or consumers or competitors.
“You’ll hear everyone say, ‘There’s got to be a better name for this,’” Pelosi said. “When people think of the public option, public is being misrepresented, that this is being paid for with their public dollars.”

Be it a “public option” or a “competitive option,” it’s still going to be government health care.

The public option will have lower costs to consumers……….in theory. This is because it will be government subsidized, by your taxes, so where is the cost benefit? Wait, there’s more. If the cost for the government option is less, then insurance companies that are not subsidized will not be competitive. The public option will create an unbalanced market. Insurance companies will fold and all that will be left is the government public option. This is the goal of the democrats. A single payer health care system where they have all the power. All they need to do is get the camel’s nose under the tent flap and next thing you know, the whole camel will be inside.

According to conventional liberal wisdom, a partial decrease of a proposed rate increase is a spending cut, but raising tax rates is no tax increase? So what is it, a decrease? It’s one or the other folks.

A turd by any other name still stinks. A fundamental lack of honesty and integrity are on display. Democrats can’t articulate plans honestly because they would not be elected. That they focus group things to see how to best fool people. A tax increse is now a discontinuation of a tax break. Democrat double speak is always on display. They will be able to set public option premiums as low as it takes to drive the private insurance companies out of business, they will just increase taxes and surcharges to make up the difference. That is where “competition” will end.
