Nancy Pelosi Makes Up Quotes From The Bible

Fiction is always more convenient than reality for the environmentalists.  Just ask Al Gore.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is fond of quoting a particular passage of Scripture. The quote, however, does not appear in the Bible and is “fictional,” according to biblical scholars.

In her April 22 Earth Day news release, Pelosi said, “The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ On this Earth Day, and every day, let us pledge to our children, and our children’s children, that they will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature.”

Cybercast News Service repeatedly queried the speaker’s office for two days to determine where the alleged Bible quote is found. Thus far, no one has responded. …

Claude Mariottini, a professor of Old Testament at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, told Cybercast News Service the passage not only doesn’t exist - it’s “fictional.”

“It is not in the Bible,” Mariottini said. “There is nothing that even approximates that.”

In the age of Google, the internet and blogs how dumb do you have to be as a politician to just start making up quotes from the most-published books of all time?

I for one do not like or support Nancy Pants, when it comes to just about any issue a person can think of.

That being said, it is sensible to hold such a statement as true. This however does not demonstrate in the least that Nancy Pants is honest or anything other than a socialist in liberal clothing.

Conservation or our environment is a good thing. Taking care that we do not harm unnecessarily the ecology of our planet is something we are all responsible to do. I believe that God gave us this planet to live on, to thrive on, and left it to us to care for and sustain. We are awed by its beauty, shocked by the wonder of it sometimes and we should at all times be respectiful of it.

Demonstrating in our lives that we can care for our environment as we live our lives, could be taken as a clear act of appreciation to God for the gift he has given us. I can even logically see how it could be seen personally to people as worship of God, and I can also see how it would not be for others.

Teddy Roosevelt was the first conservationist president, and I think he set a good example of the importance of living in harmony with the land, as well as using it to our benefit as people to make our lives better.

Nancy in her efforts to pander to the left wing moon bats has as often happens, managed to make a fool and ironically a hypocrite in that she doesn’t know what the Bible does and doesn’t say. She functions on assumptions, doesn’t bother to know the facts of something that is so important to an overwhelming majority of the people of this nation. It is insulting and foolish on her part, and simply demonstrates that the queen has no clothes when it comes to Christianity.

Why is it so surprising that a leading Democrat doesn’t know what she’s talking about when it comes to the Bible?

I would find it surprising if she did.

Chris,

There are plenty of people, on both sides of the partisan aisle, who would agree with the essence of what Pelosi said.  No doubt, so would Teddy Roosevelt.  The point is she lied about the source of her “quote” implying an authority that is not there, and by extension, implying that she knew what she was talking about.  Obviously that’s not the case either.

Typical Democrat.

Maybe she just got the Bible confused with Chief Seattle.

Pomerdorgrad on April 24, 2008 at 02:16 pm

Perhaps if someone left a Bible on that big Air Force jet she insisted on last year.  She just might find time to read it, and know what the hell she’s talking about.

She might also discover that lying is a sin.

Another example of liberal politicians making up Bible quotes and trying to convince the American people that they don’t despise church going Americans.

I am STUNNED that a liberal democrat would:

1) Lie
2) Attempt to appeal to Christians and look all the stupider doing so
3) Not admit her mistake…

Old lady Pelosi violates the first commandment with this nonsense.
She needs to go to confession.

I have sent the following email.  The “hard copy” goes out tomorrow.  We’ll see.

The Most Reverend Wilton D. Gregory, SLD
Archbishop of Atlanta
680 West Peachtree Street, NW
Atlanta, Georgia 30308

Dear Archbishop Gregory,

I am writing to you because I believe there is a situation where your personal intercession, coming on the heels of the hugely successful visit to the US by Pope Benedict XVI, could be enormously influential, and could, conceivably, save the soul of a public official in the process.

I refer to the fact that Speaker of the House of Representative Nancy Pelosi has not only been violating the Pope’s ban on receiving Holy Communion for those who support abortion as a matter of public policy, but also the fact that Ms. Pelosi has apparently been making up Old Testament Bible verses in support of other of her political positions.

While I recognize that American public policy must not violate the US Constitution’s “establishment clause”, it is also important that those who are Christians who serve in public office should behave as Christians in all their actions public and private, rather than allowing their office to serve as an excuse for dishonesty and other sinful behavior..

I realize that the Church is historically leery of involvement in most public political debates, but surely the public behavior of a Catholic official and the example set by such public behavior should be of concern to the Church.

It occurs to me that oftentimes the simplest solutions can be the most meaningful… and the most powerful.  As the Speaker is acknowledged to be a Roman Catholic, perhaps the simple gift of a Bible would serve to remind her of her obligations as a Christian, while a modest note could remind her as well that daily Bible reading and prayer have proven helpful to all manner of leaders in both the public and private sectors.  Why, even the President, with all his obligations and responsibilities, finds time for daily devotion and Bible reading.

Respectfully,

Yours in Christ,

Sphagnum.  Liberals, generally (95% of the time) do not admit their mistakes, nor apologize for their errors.

3) Not admit her mistake…

I knew one who was an “executive” principal who believed a near-teenaged girl.
She was mis-led by another girl.  She was wrong.  The other one lied.  He (and she) was proven wrong.  Neither apologized.  Typical liberal.

I believe we, Christians and non-Christians alike, should be good stewards of the earth, it is a most precious gift in every way; but, as to making it a tenet of the Christian faith: (1) The Old Testament has to do with Judaism, not Christianity. So, even had God spoke to that issue in the Old Testament, unless repeated in the New Testament, it is no longer a requirement of the Law. (2) While one may, as I often do, speak to Bible generally as representing this or that teaching, when we say something is specifically in the Bible, we should be able to quote chapter and verse for accuracy sake. (3) God will at the end of the millenial reign of Christ destroy this earth and the heavens, and create a new Heaven and a New Earth, restoring the perfection of Eden that was lost with the fall of man. Thus, it seems odd he would make environmentalism a tenet of faith when He intends on destroying the whole thing one day.

God is not part of this world system (politics) and to invoke Him for political purposes is to try and implicate Him in our sinful system and He has given us the Free Will to screw it all up on our own.

In keeping silent about evil, in burying it deep within us, so that it appears nowhere on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousandfold in the future.

Being liberal is near having to say I’m sorry.

One of the most important talents for success in politics is the ability to make utter nonsense sound not only plausible but inspiring. Barack Obama has that talent. We will be lucky if we escape the catastrophes into which other countries have been led by leaders with that same charismatic talent.

If you listen closely, after Jeremiah Wright says “God Damn America”, he says, “It’s in the Bible!”.

Maybe ignorance of Scripture is a prerequisite to becoming a Democrat these days?

What’s new?  Liberals have the annoying habit of altering the content of many important documents to suit their purposes.  Pelosi quotes non-existent scripture, judges find a right to sodomy and abortion in the constitution.

Yeh, spag.  I usually catch my spelling errors when I reread my comments.  Anyway here it is again spelled correctly.

2) How exactly does that excuse or justify Pelosi from making up biblical quotes?

George W. Bush (a liar) -Tip(per) Gore

You know Tip, your husband and his partner in crime, Bill Clinton, were saying the exact same things when they were in office!
Either call them liars, as well, or go back to censoring record lyrics!

And, I agree with Sphagnum: How does busting on George Bush excuse the ignorance and/or duplicity of Nancy Pelosi? Ah! The old Liberal “If you have no answer, change the subject!” shtick!

The Old Testament has to do with Judaism, not Christianity. So, even had God spoke to that issue in the Old Testament, unless repeated in the New Testament, it is no longer a requirement of the Law.

So for instance, if a parent tells their child to feed the dog, then later tells them to take out the trash but fails to repeat the command to feed the dog, the kid doesn’t have to feed the dog anymore?

Genesis 2:15 “And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.”

—God’s first desire of mandkind was to act as caretaker for his creations in the garden of eden.

Revelation 11:18 “18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

—Take it to mean what you will, but sounds to me in the last part as if God will be none to happy with those that forgot those dutys that he first asked of us. And that part is in the New Testament.
