Nancy Pelosi Is Breaking Campaign Promises

Apparently, according to certain Democrat members of Congress, Speaker Pelosi is working “quietly” and “effectively” to gather votes for an impeachment of the President.  Yet when she and the rest of her party were campaigning for the majority in Congress in 2006 she promised that impeachment wasn’t an option.

(05-13) 04:00 PDT Washington—House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco has told her caucus that the idea of impeaching President Bush isn’t in the cards if the party takes over the House in November’s elections.

Pelosi, who Republicans have charged intends to lead an impeachment effort, dismissed the idea when she spoke Wednesday morning at a closed-door caucus of the House’s 201 Democrats. Pelosi also restated her opposition to the idea of censuring Bush over his decision to invade Iraq in March 2003.

“We want oversight and checks and balances,’’ Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly said she told the caucus. “That certainly isn’t being done in this Congress (under Republican control). Impeachment was never her interest.’’

If Pelosi and the Democrats do impeach, they’ll be criticized for lying on the campaign trail right?  In the lead-up to the 2006 election poll after poll showed that Americans didn’t favor impeaching the President.  So the Democrats told voters they wouldn’t do that.

But hey, with an 11% approval rating, what do they have to lose right?  Who cares about campaign promises, it’s get Bush time.

Which makes me wonder what the Democrats are going to do with themselves once Bush isn’t in office any more.  One gets the idea that there will be a lot of very confused liberal voters who go to the booths looking to pull the lever against Bush only to find that it isn’t an option.

I encourage them to bring about impeachment, they don’t the votes and it will cost the conservative dems lot if they do this. Bring it on. Go ahead Nancy make our day.

Nancy is clearly illustrating her lack of judgement to the world. Funny, I pointed it out a year ago.

To get to 218 votes in the House and 67 votes in the Senate, you have to include a large number of Democrats who promised not to try to impeach over known reasons, namely most of the Blue Dog Caucus, and I would have to guess a large number of other Democrats in tight races in districts where the President was “not completely unpopular,” or MoRon.org was not strong.

If Watson is not performing a “rectal data extraction,” this is a double-cross of historic proportions that just might revive the GOP.

My prediction; if it’s true, expect numerous Democrats that Pelosi thought would support her to QUICKLY back away from her, leaving her high & dry.  The asinae simply cannot afford to be seen (more) as the party of the dirty double cross.

The problem is that most people know that Congress could end the war by simply refusing to fund it and they don’t have the balls. This will improve the Dems ratings in that department.

If Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi doesn’t have the political muscle to pass the Democrats’ version of the FISA revision, and has to cave in to the Bush administration’s version instead, she is certainly no threat to impeach anybody.

All this talk of impeachment is simply so much bluster to try and keep the far left base in line and make them think that Pelosi and her colleagues are actually doing something.  After all, Pelosi is going to have Cindy Sheehan to contend with next year, and considering the make-up of Pelosi’s congressional district, her own reelection chances could be in trouble.  Other than the minimum wage hike, passed with GOP support, Pelosi and the Dems have delivered on NONE of the promises that got them elected last November.

Impeachment? On what basis? Because the Dems don’t like GW Bush? They reeeealy need to get over themselves. Nancy Pelosi should resign!

What a bunch of bozos. 60 votes to override a veto LOL

Impeachment is done entirely by the House, no veto is possible.
It only takes 51 in the Senate to convict, no veto is possible.

Does anybody think the Republicans had 285 or 290 votes in the House when Clinton was impeached ? No way.

It’s obvious that Pelosi and the Democratic leadership doesn’t have the stomach to try to explain to these and other overzealous Democrats that there just isn’t enough there .. there.

The good Congresswoman Diane Watson (D-Culver City) must be either incredibly stupid or just blowing smoke up these folks ...

Meanwhile, its real sad that so many can be suckered so easily.
