Nancy Pelosi: I’m No Partisan
Uh, yeah.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is denying Republican claims that she is partisan, saying she has been open to GOP ideas.
In an interview with Charlie Rose on Friday, Pelosi was asked what is the most unfair and misleading impression of her. Pelosi initially said she doesn’t think about it, but when pressed, the Speaker took on her Republican critics.
After reading this I began Googling madly to find all sorts of instances proving that Pelosi is, in fact, as partisan as they come. But I quit because it’s about as productive as looking up references to prove to someone that the sky is blue. I really don’t have to do it, do I?
What I don’t understand is why we need to have a debate about who is partisan and who isn’t. We’re all partisans in our own special little ways in that we’re all advocates for our own way of seeing things, and we all think the people who see things differently than we do are wrong. Beyond that, there are just levels of civility.
Personally, I’m fine with Nancy Pelosi being a partisan for her big government liberal ideology. That’s what her supporters put her in office for. And, frankly, I want the people I vote for to be partisans when they get into office. Bipartisanship in government is no virtue. When the politicians are working together we taxpayers are usually taking it in the shorts.
