Mystery South Carolina Candidate Trails Jim DeMint By Over 40 Points
Alvin Greene got a lot of attention for his surprise victory in getting the Democrat nomination for US Senate in South Carolina. Greene, who has taken to raising funds for his campaign by selling action figures of himself, isn’t doing so hot in the general election race. According to Rasmussen, he’s trailing the incumbent Senator Jim DeMint by 40 points.
Mystery man Alvin Greene has been the subject of more media coverage this election cycle than any other political candidate, but right now he trails incumbent Republican Jim DeMint by over 40 points in South Carolina’s U.S. Senate contest.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely South Carolina Voters finds DeMint earning 62% support, while Greene, his Democratic challenger, picks up 20% of the vote.
That’s huge. I don’t think DeMint has anything to worry about. But what’s funny is that, as lopsided as this Senate race is, it’s still not the most lop-sided in the country. Here in North Dakota, Governor John Hoeven is beating Democrat challenger Tracy Potter by 47 points in the Rasmussen poll even after Potter picked up 7 points in the last month.
