Murtha Wants To Take Away What Our Troops Need In Iraq

Here’s Rep. Jack Murtha, talking about his proposal to cut off funding for the troops in Iraq.

He did not elaborate but went on to talk about services enjoyed by U.S. troops in Iraq but denied to many Iraqis.

“Let’s take, for instance, Saddam Hussein’s palace - that’s where our troops are living,” Murtha said.

“They have everything they need. They have electricity, as they should. They have warm water. They have all the things that you need and we provide for our troops, and I agree with that,” he said.

“But right around the outside is where the Iraqis live with nothing, and that’s the thing that worries me,” Murtha said.

Anyone else not understanding what Murtha’s point is here?  Is he talking about denying our troops access to electricity?  And hot water?  And shelter?  All so that they can be like the Iraqis who “have nothing?”

Is this really what Americans want?  People like Murtha cutting off funding for our soldiers’ most basic needs on the battlefield?  I don’t think it is.  And isn’t this something of a departure from the usual desperate picture Murtha paints of Iraq?  One of troops tired, worn out and desperate to get out of the war?  Which is it, Jack?  Are the troops living comfortably in palaces or are they tired and worn out?

Granted, Murtha could be saying that we should get our troops out of Iraq because our troops have food and water and shelter while the Iraqis don’t and that makes them hate us, but doesn’t that explanation even reflect poorly on Murtha?  Is he saying that we should abandon these poor, starving Iraqis so that they’re not jealous of us any more?

Here’s the complete video of the interview between Murtha and MoveCongress.org which these comments were taken from (here’s a direct link to the video of the comments quoted above):

The entire thing is worth watching as Murtha makes some jaw-dropping comments during it.  Or just watch it to see the sycophant conducting the interview do his best impression of a bobble head as he gobbles up every half-truth which falls from Murtha’s lips.

Some highlights:

  • Murtha saying that Iraqi’s would have been “better off” had we pulled all of our troops out of Iraq after Bush’s now-infamous “mission accomplished” moment after the initial invasion.  Of course, that would have meant no Iraqi elections and no democratic government, and it would have left the Iraqi people vulnerable to the machinations of whatever tyrant tried to fill the power vacuum left by Saddam, but Murtha doesn’t care about those things.
  • Murtha saying that only 42% of our troops even understand the mission they’re on in Iraq, which is not only a slam at the intelligence of our troops a la Senator Kerry but also seems to be a statistic Murtha has pulled out of thin air.
  • Murtha stumbles a bit saying that we should get our troops “out of the green zone” and “out of Saddam’s palace,” the immediate implication being that they’re just hiding out in safety zones and basking in the luxury of a palace, but then he recovers and says that we should get the troops “out of Iraq” altogether.  Why Murtha seems to have an obsession with this palace of Saddam’s is beyond me.
  • The chucklehead interviewing Murtha asks him point blank if troops are going into Iraq not ready for combat.  Murtha is forced to admit, after all his moaning and groaning earlier in the interview about the Bush administration not sending troops to Iraq prepared, that it isn’t happening.  He follows that admission up with a bunch of dumb rhetoric about equipping the troops (as if he cares), but the blunt admission he is first forced to make pretty much flies in the face of a lot of what the Democrats are saying about deployments to Iraq.  Our troops are going in combat read.  Murtha has admitted it.
  • Murtha comes right out and states that the impact of his legislation will be that our troops won’t have the resources or the equipment necessary to finish the war.  Which, of course, is his goal in the first place.  He’s not really concerned about troop deployments or equipment, he just wants to bleed the war to death.  What’s worse, he wants to bleed a war to death that our troops are still fighting and dying to win.  Amazingly, just seconds after those comments Murtha states that he and his supporters are going to give the troops “everything they need.” Murtha says they’re going to “protect” and “support” the troops.  But not so much that they’ll actually win the war their fighting, naturally.

I wonder if Mr. Murtha has slept on the floor of any unheated rooms, or made any unusual sacrifices for his country recently?

He served honorably in the Marines, which he should be commended for, but right now he is doing this country and it’s military a grave disservice.

I do honor him for the service he did for his country. But, that was a long time ago. People change. His service in Congress from Abscam to Iraq has been abysmal.

Jack Murtha’s actual active duty military service amounted to little more than the normal 4 year enlistment.  And for that he should be commended.

But the idea, deliberately implied by Murtha, that his was a 30 year career in the Marines is nonsense.

He may have served, and served honorably in the US Marine Corps, but Jack Murtha is NOT a Marine!

He served honorably in the Marines

That may well be true, but there is a precedent…

Benedict Arnold (January 14, 1741 – June 14, 1801) was a general in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He is best known for betraying the United States forces and plotting to surrender the American fort at West Point, New York, to the British during the American Revolution.

Arnold had distinguished himself as a hero of the revolution early in the war through acts of cunning and bravery at Fort Ticonderoga in 1775, the march to Canada, attack on Montreal and besieging of Quebec in 1775, the Battle of Valcour Island on Lake Champlain in 1776, the Battles of Danbury and Ridgefield in Connecticut (after which he was promoted to Major General) and at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777. However, Arnold strongly opposed the decision by the Continental Congress to form an alliance with France. Disaffected because of grievances with the Continental Congress (despite his seniority and accomplishments, Congress had passed Arnold over for promotion), suffering from mounting personal debt (he had personally paid for nearly all of the expenditures of his Continental forces while in Canada), and facing corruption charges filed by the Pennsylvania civil authorities (at the instigation of a man Arnold had stripped of command at Ticonderoga), Arnold also faced pressure at home from his young second wife Peggy Shippen, herself a British Loyalist.

In the fields of intelligence, counterintelligence and even operational security, you are taught to recognize when those in positions of power have come under the control of others through the process of subornation—which is espionage lingo for being blackmailed.

That’s why all those in positions of special trust and confidence undergo a background investigation in order to qualify for a security clearance.  While the lowliest janitor and secretary has to qualify for a clearance, those elected officials often have their own backgrounds glossed over, particularly if there is an already corrupt apparatus in place to make sure the newly-suborned aren’t subjected to any serious scrutiny.

Anyone following the events inside the Clinton Whitehouse will recall how many of the personnel and staffers were granted high-level access without even being cleared.  And those Republicans who HAD been cleared had their FBI files illegally recorded by the Clinton operatives.

My guess is that someone has gotten to Murtha, very likely due to his corrupt background and now he is a Demoncratic puppet.

Do I have proof?  No, but the indicia of subornation and betrayal is there for all to see.

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth devil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

I’ve known a few Marines in my time. I took fencing classes from a Marine who was pushing 80.  He’d hit the south Pacific beaches in WWII and at four score years could score points on any 20 yr. old in the joint.

Most Marines I’ve talked to tell me there is no such thing as an “ex-Marine”.

Once a Marine, always a Marine!.

Jack Murtha is the exception to that rule.

Puzzle,

I don’t have to.  It was decided long before either Murtha or I went through boot camp.  A United States Marine does NOT, EVER, EVER, abandon a fellow Marine.  Jack Murtha has done exactly that.  End of story.

I would like to correct the record here. Murtha hasn’t just abandoned a fellow Marine, he has abandoned all Marines.

Gents,

I agree with you both, and more to the point, a Marine (as Quentin Tarantino might have said it in PULP FICTION) does not betray his fucking country.

US Code TITLE 10, Subtitle A, PART II,CHAP 31, § 502

“I, __[name]___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the
United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic
; that I will bear true faith and allegiance
to the same
; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of
the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help
me God.”

Murtha and his Fellow Traveler Leftists and traitors are betraying the United States, our allies, and every single human who values and deserves life and freedom.

They are working towards a victory for tyrants and setting up (yet again) a slaughter of innocents, as they did in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Iran, South Africa, Rhodesia and SW Africa.

Once is accident
Twice is coincidence
Three times is enemy action

-- Act accordingly.

Murtha quit being a Marine when he betrayed his Oath, his Corps and his Country.

Hey Murtha, just stand downrange for a second, why dontcha…

My father-in-law, who died much too young almost 17 years ago, was one of those ramrod-straight gyrenes who stormed the beaches in the South Pacific with the 4th Marine Division.  He joined as soon as he turned 18 in 1942 - his mother, a pacifist wouldn’t give her permission for him to join sooner.  He was wounded three times.  He always resented bitterly the civilians who took upon themselves the responsibility to “oversee” the Corps as a guise to gut or divert its mission.  Eleanor Roosevelt publicly stated during WWII that the Marines would have to spend months after the war “re-civilizing” before returning to their loved ones stateside.  I am not sure when Murtha turned against the military,? BUT he certainly has.  Maybe it was the bitter disappontment of Vietnam? OR when his corruption was exposed for all to see during Abscam.  I know why the MSM gives him a pass. BUT his statements are so rambling and incoherent.  It appears he is mentally deranged????

Brit Hume is being extraordinarily generous in his assessment of Murtha.

A sixteen year old is naive.
