Multitasking

With the new PC EZ Bake Oven, you can work on your computer and bake a tasty snack at the same time.

From ThinkGeek via Blackfive:

Now the computer savvy among us can relive the fun of having your very own personal mini-oven with the PC Ez-Bake oven! It fits in a 5 1/4" drive bay and plugs right into your power supply with the included Molex connector. Also included is "PC Ez-Cook", the open-source oven controller software with hundreds of easy and creative recipes for your PC Ez-Bake oven, and even a fuzzy-logic cooking control system to precisely measure the doneness of your cake, cookie, or cheese souffle. The PC Ez-Bake oven can even be used to cook your Pop Tarts, Bagel Bites, or any tiny or flat food. YUM!

In case you hadn't already figured it out, this is a prank.

Seriously though, how long until kitchen appliances like ovens and microwaves are run from a PC? Baking a cake could be as easy as following the prompts on your monitor...

Actually, I thought about putting together a recipie planner/finder program once.  You would pick the meals you wanted for the week and it would generate a shopping list.  Then the recipies would be printable or viewable on the kitchen computer...ha.

The idea still has some merit, I suppose.  I thought the grocery list would be handy.  Plus linking it to net databases of recipies to help with ideas.

Just one of those things that never got very far on the priority list.

King, I would love a program like that just so that I would know what to buy when I went shopping.

As a single male often cooking for just one, shopping is a daunting task.

My favorite thing in the world is watching my father going shopping at the grocery store.

“Dad… it’s baked beans and hot dogs.  It really doesn’t require this much deliberation.”

When we lived in Alaska we had to drive about 300 miles to the grocery store and when there buy enough food to last about a month.

We bought our food at one of those big wharehouse stores, and the best times I ever had were when my dad went with.  We got to get all the stuff my mom would never let us get, like giant boxes of Double Bubble gum and cereal with sugar in it.

Captain Crunch!  Oh man, I haven’t had Captain Crunch in years…

When I was younger I used to think that Peanutbutter Captain Crunch was a food group unto itself.

Good old cereal with sugar in it!  (Verboten of course!) Except, for some reason, my mom let us get Honey Nut Cheerios.

But hey, I appreciate her now.  Capt’n Crunch didn’t taste that great, plus it ripped the heck out of the roof of your mouth.
